I will probably make it out to see you all at NASS this Wed. I have just put a deposit on a bike but won't be riding - still have to do written test. I got an xt225. She will suit me well to build up confidence on. I decided to get one from the Red Baron - not easy to find something at a shop on my very limited budget! But this way the bike is serviced, road legal, comes with a warranty - all good for me who has no idea what I'm doing and buying blind from Trade Me was a bit scary.

Last week's activities made me realise how much I need to re-learn with a heavier less maneovreable bike. I'm going to head to the carpark around 6.45pm to get straight into some cone drills. Looks like a good evening for an extended ride so even if the main group don't show 'till a bit later there will be some other (learner friendly) activities happening at the Albany carpark for those who are interested.

Had a text from Richard (TheHovel) yesterday, he won't be making it tonight, as he has come down with the man flu...

Fingers crossed he can make it back from that life threatening illness !!!

Had a good time tonight, and it was good to be out again, with out having to wring out my gloves afterwards...

It was good to practice the breaking, esp when I got the front to skid... All good....

It was a good turn out, and good to catch up with every one again....

    Cheers

    Fran

Yah, a good night for sure, and some really good improvement from some people. A pretty good turn out for a chilly winter evening!

Don't forget to bring along a tyre pressure gauge if you have one for next week. We'll spend 5 or 10 minutes at the car park and make sure everyone's tyres are correctly inflated, and that they now how to check their tyres.

If you don't have a tyre pressure gauge you can get cheap ones at Repco or Supercheap Auto, and I wouldn't be surprised if Cycletreads also sell them.

Also if you don't know what pressure you are meant to have in your tyres try and find it out before next Wednesday. Many bikes have a sticker on the rear chain guard or near the back of the bike with the recommend tyre pressures on it. If you can't find this you'll need to Google for the tyre pressure to use on your bike.

Keeping your tyres at the correct tyre pressure is probably the single biggest (and cheapest) thing you can do to save tyre wear and keep your tyres handling at their best.
