Your main group is the learners. If you scare them away NASS dies. Games for the experienced riders are great BUT secondary. NASS has nearly died a couple of times before by just this problem and I would hate to see 5 years work go down the tubes!!!!!!!

That was just for the group ride, been doing that while Nass has been off for christmas and till it picks up a bit. What I am looking at is a more advanced and scheduled training programme for the more experienced riders. Whilst keeping the new guys down doing the easier stuff.
Come out on a Sunday.
NASS should be left for the learners, or like a few others, a chance to brush up on a few basic skills.
You have just out grown NASS, Be happy that it is now time to move to another group or get a one on one mentor.
Remember we all learn at different speeds.
Been thinking about what was talked about at nass last week, If there are fewer learner/less experienced riders turning up, perhaps its time nass advertised.. after all.. unless you stumble upon KB... and then the nass thread... how else do you know whats available.
Like Richard said, NASS is for the less experienced riders and he put a hell of a lot of effort into nass and that would suck to turn it into an advanced group and loose what nass is all about - from the get go.
Advanced group can go off on another night.
There are plenty of other places for more advanced riders to go and play and ride.
Just my .02c
Just some constructive criticism for you guys - do what you will with it.
Now I don't know how you guys normally run these things, but being a new guy attending if TSC hadn't known me, I kind of got the feeling everybody would of just stared at me the entire night which is not exactly the most friendly or welcoming environment to enter into and wouldn't have been something I would of felt like attending again. (yes I was trailering my bike and not riding so little bit different to the norm I guess)
Also those tennis balls seemed to closely spaced to me, 2 people out of 7? who attempted it were able to do it at all and one fell off (I didn't see how it happened as I had my back turned) - maybe some lead in so it gets tighter towards the end of the slalom as its aimed at learners. But no one was giving any guidance or reminders/tips on how to actually improve, couple of people were looking where there handle bars were and right in front of there bike instead of where they were wanting to go (alot of the time people don't even realise they are doing those things so keep repeating same mistake) maybe someone or a few people could be passing on constructive criticism to people?
I don't even know if I could make it through that slalom
Please don't take offense to the above, not trying to have a go but you guys seem keen on improving and thats just a couple of things from an outsider looking in.
Thats not the best!
It had been a long while since i had been going to nass, I just toddled along with the missus back then who was/is learning to ride (pre baby) and was happy to lend a hand. After last week i relate to what you say above..... Was not able to get there last night...
It was Pdath Todd and the hovel running the show back then, not sure who is at the helm these days.
Ride right, ride safe courses start back up next month, 18th march http://bronzauckland.org.nz/bronzword/?page_id=10 Its a worthwhile course for the cost, may see some of you there...
Yeah as I say, i was a little bit different as I wasn't riding on the night just heading back home from trip down the line and I could of made some effort myself as well which I didn't as I was to exhausted, but being the new guy its very much a bunch of people who know each other versus one new guy which can be intimidating for a lot of people.
But its just food for thought, if people want these things to be successful then the likes of introductions to everything/everybody is probably valid and guidance assistance of some sort has to be rendered.
hey grant,
yea usually its much more learning based with an easier course and more people making it, I wasn't watching most people go through so didn't think to widen the balls at all.
managed to show one guy how to balance the throttle, clutch and break though.
re no one taking to you, is a bit shit I think it was a really off night all in all.
thanks for your feedback though grant :-)
