The bike mechanic guy said that he didn't recommend them because they could more easily catch on something and rip out - which would be bad. Has anyone ever heard of problems like that?
    Catch on what?
    After 70,000km on my Triumph with them had no issues whatsoever!
    That guys on crack.

    Hey! She (seller) just dropped the price to under $6G too. I sent an email. If I could sell the VTR quickly I'd buy this ER6N, looks like a good deal. After checking it out thoroughly first, and taking for a good test ride, of course...

    Just make sure it isn't Crazy Steve's one. If not, then it'd be a steal!

    At the time I was racking my brains trying to think of any situation where a problem COULD occur - maybe an issue on an offroad bike (adventure/MX/motard/whatever) but on my scooter?

    My rear rim is only 13" and the front is 14" - there is not a lot of room between the brake discs and the rim. I will have to look at the issue again when I am getting the next new tyre (I am up to 24,000 kms, the front can't last forever). Currently I can inflate my tyres at home but at a service station it all depends on the design of their tyre inflater.

    Yeah it's a pain in the arse, definately recommend the 90 degree valves, sooo much easier to work with. I cant think at all what it could possibly catch on that a standard one wouldn't...

    The ER6's are very good all-round bikes.
    I do suggest you give it a go.
    Other bike you could have a look at is the GSX650F

    He's been trying to sell that for 12 months now. I wouldn't trust him as far as I could throw that bike.

    Me'n some mates made a cash offer yonks ago, which he refused. Next day said it'd been "sold" for even less'n what we'd offered.

    He's managed to allegedly "sell" that bike at LEAST three times that I recall, before I stopped following his dodgy thread.

    Since he started trying to sell it he's dropped the price around 4k, told everyone it's been sold multiple times, and also crashed it whilst wheelieing.

    I wouldn't touch that with a eight foot stick.

    Cheers mate, appreciate the info.
    I asked the trademe guy "steve" if he was crazy steve from KB, to which he replied "No".
    But both steves are from Franklin, Auckland;
    Both of them it's the missus' bike;
    Both green 2008 ER6N's;
    Both showing pix with the Arrow muffler...
    Both have similar phrasing in the text about when the services were done...

    All seems like too much of a co-incidence.
    And if it is him, why would he reply that "no" it isn't?

    I'll keep waiting. Maybe even just keep my VTR till I can afford finance on a new STriple... Unless someone makes me an offer I can't refuse for the VTR.

    Yeah.

    I mean, sure he *might* be a nice enough guy. But fucked if I'm going to take a chance like that with my money.

    Psst, there's a few nice VFRs on TM at the moment...
