The GSX is an excellent choice. At the end of the day you DO have to live with the thing.

Can somebody who was there on the 3rd of this month plot out or give directions for the route that was taken?

I tried to retrace the trail today and failed miserably. I got lost after old north road. I'm sure there was a turn off but buggered if I could find it.

    Cheers.

    I think I was there...
The usual route would be up Old North turn right onto Peak Road, then right again onto SH16, once again right (nearly straight away) onto Kahikatia Flat Road, then right again, (getting the picture now??) onto SH17 into Albany.
And getting lost is half the fun!!!

    Tania,
Just spent hours doing a surrogate pre-purchase investigation on your behalf. It was to no avail as by the time I had got to grips with the bike you were keen on and the alternatives, made a few notes, copy and pasted relevant details, from test evaluations etc, it was a done deal.
Oh well, it was an interesting exercise.
I have a thing against Suzuki motorcycles for some reason.
Hypocritically the bike I have lusted after for more than a few years now, A Bimota SB6 - the last word in 1990s' Italian superbike exotica, has a Suzuki engine. - They do build great engines.

I don't think this is quite right.

I took old north road and origonally turned left at peak road. That was wrong, we spun around and went down peak road but I'm sure there was another turn off somewhere down there. At the end of peak road is the turnoff down 16 right? I don't recall us going down there that night. (I guess i could be wrong though).

I'm sure there were more turns than you mentioned.

I'm sure there were less long straights as well, and more luscious curves.

Best bits - It's a better bike for you than an R1.
Better around town than a GSXR.
    Better seating position for you.

Ah ha I remember now, I went on the ride via the gravel road to the north of Riverhead forest, so I'm not sure what route you would have taken. All I wrote was the usual route, in a very generalised manner.
