Well, TOTO and myself had a wonderful time practicing on the Gymkhana-style course we set up - it was definitely challenging

After overheating the rear brake on the VFR, the same thing happened while riding LankyBastard's 250 Ninja (which was a lot more fun around the course too) Those Gymkhana guys must have carbon brakes or something. Either that or they are going a lot faster...

Anyway, hopefully next time it won't rain the minute everyone else turns up, rendering the course too slippery to be much use. Good times at the pub anyway.

Thanks for the efforts in setting up the course Neon and Toto. It really was great. Just wished the rain had stayed away.

Yeah well done on the setup,I would have given it a go,but wasn't keen when it got wet.

Did anyone else see that mad bugger on the black bike overtaking everyone? Maybe he thought he was doing IOM TT or something

If the weather looks good for next week I'll set up another one. Perhaps a slightly easier course that everyone can have a go at. The one we did on Wednesday was probably a bit tight for most.

I wish we had a Gymkhana competition in NZ...

What you could do is use the three lanes, and make each successive lane harder, or something like that. Then riders can choose their difficulty level.

In the Stadium carpark there is an RC model track that could be fun. I'm not sure if they would appreciate bikes on it though
    What part of for(int i=0xC02;putchar((i&7)+69)&&(i>>=3); ); don't you understand?

yes thats fun, we've done it on a number of occasions. That track is truly great for perfecting slow speed bike control. Doing it clockwise I reckon is the more fun one

Yeh I saw him as well...not the first time he's done it either, he's also known for undertaking (presuming we are talking about the same person here)

That is a very impressive video and display of rider skill.

    Interesting frame-slider design too.

Good idea Phil, I will try that. Might not have the balls required for three, but two should be easy enough. The problem is judging how difficult they are while laying them out. Last week I thought it looked great, then it was damn near impossible.

Good to catch up again, albeit briefly, and very good to have the policemen there. Went back afterwards and ground away some more rear pads, fun fun

    All,

Keen to get some feedback on the courses set out last night. Basically so that next time it is a better experience for everyone

What did you like? What could have been improved? How did you find the courses you tried - too easy? too hard? Would you have single-skill exercises or are combination ones better?

Personally, I would like to do some more straightforward exercises focusing on stop/go turns, precision manouvres (keeping wheels inside markers) and lines (linking turns together). That way people can practice the same single skill and perfect it in an hour or so.
