wow .. I have many heros .. some dead, some alive, I don't have any specific 'one' that really stands out for me .. but thats not to say they did not have equal impact. The commonalities that bound them all together is their spirit, their compassion, their consideration, their ability to see the failabilities of human-ness but to encourage strength & persistance, the birth right to self expression, the dream to be who they are in this world and not be afraid of prejudice. The courage to participate in my learning as I am in theirs.

Everyone in my life has literally had an impact on me. I grew up in a violent home. Jake the Muss wouldnt have stood a chance against my Dad thats for sure and that is nothing to brag about either. Only difference was my Dad was a clean freak! Ever heard of the Cleaning Gustapo? lol not really funny but I can laugh about it now.

My grandmother died of bowel cancer ... found out in April dead by December, Mum cared for her right til the end, my grandmother didnt want to go and my Mum & Uncles made the heartbreaking decision, advised by the doctors, to shoot her up with morphine and send her on her way. That is something they never got over and has haunted them ever since.

I am in awe by so many in my life .. everyone who I have come in contact with, in my life, is here to share a pivotal event with me regardless of how big or small it is. I share the experience with them just as much as they do with us. This is why I have many heros.

If I had to choose, I'd say Corporal Bill Apiata.

But he is one of many that I admire.

Me too, Ive omitted many because the op would have been too long. Good read fire eyes, plenty to contemplate there.

Yes , didn't recognise the name but when I followed your link I remember him. Top bloke and he's not the only one, thank god. I've had the privilege to work alongside many that have risked their lives to save others and it's quite humbling. Thanks for that.

Often forgotten now, the war Heroes. I'm sure your Grandad would be very proud and pleased that you honour his memory and still more that he is your inspiration.
    Oh bugger
