Had a look through all of the bikes for sale on trade-me, and nothing! Might have to buy one when it comes up, and just shuffle around finances.

Does it matter what year bike it is? Would a 1970 125 2 stroke be as competitive as a 1990 of the same type, for example?
If you aren't going to tinker you will want the latest. But we are talking about bucket racing so it therefore doesn't really matter. Old and cheap is good as you won't feel so bad when you throw most of it in the bin.

there isn't a gokart track here either sadly although the speedway has been talking for years about buying some land next to the speedway and building a track, but as yet it's been only talk.

New benchmark for a 100cc 2-stroke bucket - 27.5hp at the rear wheel on the dyno. It's in a RS125 chassis. Power band is good and only revs to about 11,000rpm so should last well.

    It isn't mine.

We used to race a Bucket sidecar at the Kart track in Mt Wellington with some sucess. TF100 motor putting out around 21hp from memory. Took it to taupo and was the only bucket sidecar to turn up. They sent us out with the big sidecars. we were doing 59sec laps. big ones were doing 50secs. Didn't get lapped either. I was the swinger - had a knee slider on my hip/butt cheek to save my leathers! Was more work than fun in the end...

I thought you weren't allowed to use any purpose built, racing parts. eg. RS125 chasis?

Not that I actually know, just thought this was the case. Or is it engine parts?

Don't know about now but when I was racing your motor had to be sourced from a production motorcycle originally built for the road. Chassis and everything else was open to anything you could dream up. This ruled out using motorcross and road race motors and kept the price down some what.
