my wife was pregnant while i was away, and i was posted to huntly (my choice - hamilton wasn't available) when i came out - 45 minute drive from our house that we had JUST bought. we coped. not always easy, but we're still together and doing pretty well.

on the other side of the coin, my brothers wife was a teacher, then a cop. the shift work/police relationships/family was not kind to them - they split up. she's still a cop, now married to one.

As Marty sed, ya gotta watch out for the relationship, shift work of ANY sort can stress any relationship, throw in a stressfull type of work (arguing with KBers about whether cops need Tazers etc??) adds another dimension.

I met CB after the wheels fell of my first marraige, can't say if my job WAS the major factor - after I was in the job for the first year or so (but I'm happy now).
Winding up drongos, foil hat wearers and over sensitive KBers for over 14,000 posts...........

She will be fine... plently of testosterone for her to sort out down there, that will get her through, being pretty and all, no problems....

    Now... as for you... Ummmm....

    Take up crochet? Knitting, perhaps?
