Despite the score, there was little real difference between the two sides. The ABs had most of the possession and again, insisted on kicking a lot of that away.

The ABs tight five all had magnificent games.

The Springboks struggled to capitalise on the limited amount of ball that they had and, for some reason best known to them, didn't start their best players.

The weather had little impact. Conditions were way worse for the Irish test.

The same can't be said for the referee, who was at best average. I have no idea why the All Blacks had a try disallowed for "offside" play when the scorer was clearly behind the kicker. Similarly I have no idea how Brad Thorn survived not getting carded for his indiscretion in the opening minutes.

Opening ceremonies were great. The best national anthems' renditions for eons, and the typically egregious Wellington "cheerleaders" were dispensed with in preference for the highly drilled and polished Lochiel marching girls. Infinitely better than the usual discoordinated melee of Hutt slappers with pierced muffins.

    Great game.

I predict we will lose to the Aussies

Bottom line if a Saffa like me almost 5 years into NZ struggles with the weather the last few days... Springboks (who traditionally dont travel well), would always be beaten in this cold! Poor bastards must of thought they had died and gone to a frozen hell!

It was a good game... VERY impressed with the new found commitment of the ABs, and SA's tenacity

Was a fantastic game to watch (from home in the warm lounge) and i thought considering the weather the handling was excellent from both teams. The score didnt really reflect the game as it was a bloody even encounter and either team really could have come out the victor. Kaino's offside try was utter rubbish and the first in a long time where ive seen teh ref actually call a runner ahead of the kicker(can he go upstairs for it as the try was scored?).

The biffo early on was also great to see and yes Brad Thorn should have at least be yellow carded for his retaliation to the puch thrown by Smit. In saying that Bakies Botha should have been carded too for his elbow to the face of Maa Nonu later in the game that went unpunished and not even mentioned.

Still stoked to see our first real hard game and we still won it. If the Saffas thought it was cold last night they might as well not turn up next weekend for the Dunedin match.

Go Henry and the AB's, cant wait till we beat Robbie Dean's Wallabies too.

Be interesting about the game in S.A as they will be having that tossa of a English ref on the sideline. The one that was getting paid by the French to look the other way in the 1/4 finals in the world cup.
What about the Aussie/ france game that was an easy win.
If you are behind meDont ask as I am lost too.

No, the TMO can currently only rule on stuff "in the act of scoring" so grounding, touch-in-goal etc.

I think they're trialling a broadening of the powers to include anything in the phase of play that leads up to the try (so back to last scrum, ruck, line-out) in the Currie cup this year.
