Whilst I was nosing about, I came across a Ricky Skaggs bluegrass/gospel number backed by the Boston Philharmonic Orchestra: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3mLJ1Zuj1sw . Man, that guy can sing!
I agree, that Plant/Krauss thing might be worth looking into. I too have spotted a track or two on YT but country??? Ooh, fine line.... Bluegrass maybe? Either way it's not hard on the ear and Plant's solo efforts have always had that ring about them.

Pondering your comment about Alison's appearances I can't help but wonder about Robert's motives with that musical pairing. (Tries to shake picture from head...)

Alison Krauss is fantastic. I have been listening to her stuff for years!

One of her best duets recently has got to be "Whisky Lullaby" with Brad Paisley...Two great artists and one fantastic harmony...
And the song, its one of the saddest songs I have heard in years...a real country tearjerker...

anyway, have a listen, ya jus might get hooked on this country stuff!

Yep, I came across that in the last few days and it's excellent. Also found Alison Krauss singing with the Chieftans which is top rate too.

I worked in the southern States for a short while and saw some great live performances down there of all types of music. The most memorable one though was a Cajun group in New Orleans called Mamou. Could have been straight out of the cult movie "Southern Comfort".
