A couple of times I guess.

First and lesser was when I caught a 14.5 pound trout fly fishing. Made a few local papers and got me the undeserved reputation of being a good fisherman. (It was really just my lucky day. Wee bit of skill and a lot of luck in many ways.)

My major dose of 'fame' was when I won a 'Pay Clerk of the Year' award ahead of about 600 other nominees. It hit the papers and living in a small town at the time, many people knew me. I had to go to some event at my daughter's school a couple of days after that hit the papers and I got a feel for what it must be like to be a bit famous because everyone wanted to talk to me about it. While I appreciated the recognition of my achievement, I got a feel for how claustrophobic it must be being truly famous and being recognised and either stared at or approached wherever you go all the time.

I was in the movie "Shaker Run" - crowd scene at the car jump show filmed at Hutt Park Raceway. You have to know just when to pause the video, and I'm a black blur next to a red blur.
it's not a bad thing till you throw a KLR into the mix.

I was in the local paper.

    Well my school bag was.

I showed everyone who came through the checkout at the supermarket i worked at.

Also from the same incident, I was on a sky TV show about some guy who takes the front page of the local rag and plays the people on it at golf.

My bag isnt very good at golf.
Then I could get a Kb Tshirt, move to Timaru and become a full time crossdressing faggot
