    KB and bike n00b (cheesemethod)

    Hi All,
My name's Dan and I'm just getting started with bikes. Have recently acquired some gear and my BHST, so it's off to the AA tomorrow to book the theory test and I'll be up and running.

I'm more from a car background, I have a Mk1 Toyota MR2 in the garage I'm currently completing as a club motorsport car/weekend roadtripper.

Bike wise I've ridden a few dirt bikes (Yamaha 450ish 2 stroke mostly), a few GN125s while getting training and a licence, and my dad's Honda CBX for good measure.

To start with I'm looking at a bike mostly to commute with to get a bit of experience, currently looking at the Yamaha Scorpio 225, Honda VTR?250, or anything secondhand that will be reliable. Living in Browns Bay, and working over in Albany so nice quiet roads to learn on.

Speaking of work, crynsie is my boss. But not for long

Welcome mate and I hope you score yourself a nice set of new wheels(2 only but!).You are buying at the premium time with winter biting and all the wannabe's trying to sell their bikes to get warm and dry on 4.

    Welcome to the site!

The VTR is a nice bike indeed. McJim will probably be along soon to say how wonderful they are!

I can totally relate to that. I've still got an adub just waiting for paint now, althought I think it will spend more time at the car club events than out on a friday night.

Dude, get a bike. Best thing I've done in ages. My little GN is great although if you're out in the wops still you might wanna look at something with a little more power. Then again you're lighter than me so could be perfect for you. Get ya licence so ya can try a few bikes and see what ya like.

Auckland's not bad, but Browns Bay can be a little dull.

Well if you launch off the curbs at Taupo hard enough it becomes a motorbike. And with the 20v 4AGE it's a motorbike engine at heart.

Anyway... where's the cue for the pills?
