I think drugs were involved.
I think drugs were involved.
According to a story I read somewhere, can't recall, may of been online....the chick that got the bash could be in the shit too.
Because of the benefits, rehab, ACC etc she had been given when injured, if she has'nt told the truth about what caused her accident, she's liable to be charged for fraud!
So if she said she fell down stairs and its been proven she got the shit kicked out of her by the midget, she's in the poo too.......
He can push me down the stairs for $170K

Yep that's right. But to date I've not heard of any ACC involvement. If there is and taxpayers money has been spent on her then I'd throw the book at her. There could be a deal done so no charges would be laid if she was prepared to testify but as I mentioned in an earlier post if she does she will get cruicified in the cross. I'm picking she will refuse. But if ACC has been involved the threat of charges may help loosen her toungue. But if Veitch confesses for whatever reason be it a payout or a promise of no charges being laid said chick could be in the fireing line one way or the other.

We're at cross purposes. Certainly the crime of aggravated assault took place - but she isn't required to report it. I'm a passionate believer in the rule of law. However it doesn't prevent people lawfully sorting out their differences without recourse to the Courts - criminal or civil.
Laws are broken all the time (speed anyone...?) but never reported.
There's a significant difference between a criminal offense and a traffickal offense in my honest opinion. E.g. you do not cause any injury or damage to anyone just by exceeding the established speed limits. (unless they believe in the 'speed kills' slogan and are very touchy-feely and self-righteous to boot)
In the case of a violent offense it doesn't matter if you say 'sorry' and the fella you fucked up says 'no worries' - if you have violent tendencies I'd prefer to have your deeds examined by an objective (or as close as we can get) court of law and perhaps see you person locked up for a period based on that assessment.
Is there no public prosecution in NZ?
If not I guess it's pretty easy - you just make sure to remove all the victims from the equation and you should be home free... I guess noone get's done for murder in this country.

With the media frenzy on this one, I can't see anything being done about it. I don't condone family violence, but I also don't think it should cost him his job. Bit like the lion guy really...

So you are saying that every criminal offence should be reported. Or at least every criminal offence involving violence. Not reporting would therefore be an offence itself?
Nice idea but our law does not say that. Thousands of women and children get the bash weekly in NZ - I wish we could compel them to report it - but we can't. Write to your MP.
There are very few crimes which we are required to report. Every motor accident is supposed to be reported, but if no-one is injured often there is no report despite the fact its quite likely a law has been broken (careless use, failure to stop, excessive speed etc...).
Odd as it must seem, if you witness a murder, you are not compelled to report it.
There are at least three categories of assault. Common assault, male assaults female, and Crimes Act assault (the most serious). Plus aggravated assault etc.
Ever looked at the average size and strength of women? Even small guys are harder than most women in a fight so the law reflects that. No big deal.
Thought that just about every assault is unfair by definition....otherwise the victim wouldn't be the victim. The assailant would be......
