DYO..cool so I guess you're riding your bike to the track....... don't make any adjustments (tyre pressures etc) they will upset your consistency. And if you are in the elims and are in front by a long way and thinking 'this is a quick one' back it off a bit before the line so you don't break out. If you just wanna try your best time, don't wait for the Green, go when the light before goes out. And when you 'stage' stay as forward in the staging area as you can cos otherwise you may roll back off the balls of your boot and be sitting on a red without realising. Go have a blast mate

    Yip.

    Didn't go under 12.6.

    Fookin mint day. Awesome fun.

Ridiculously slippery dragstrip. Stupidly slippery. I was fishtailing for half of it on most of my runs. Couldn't get under 13 seconds until I figured out, on my last practice run, that launching in second gear was necessary to get any decent drive off the line.

Fluffed all my starts in the DYO knockout rounds due to nervousness, of course.

I'm definitely going back for the next session with 15psi less in my rear tyre. If I nail those starts and get just a wee bit more traction up through the first 100m instead of spinning the back wheel everywhere, I'm quite positive Betty will go under 12 seconds.

Many thanks to Stickchick for coming along on the back of Betty and being camera girl (even if I couldn't talk her into racing the EL250), Timmay for kicking all the other bike's arses in the knockout series on his CBX250RS (really) and RiderInBlack for turning up with Zena and giving me some fair competition.

Was quite special having two bleck GSX1400s line up side by side for the last run of the day.

Can't wait for the next one.

Untouched. One rule for the day from me was no burn-outs due to the tyre being brand new and worth $460.

    That track must be shocking!
I could 11.8s on a GS1100G at Ravenswood Perth, and the Kat1100 easily did low 11s.
    Time for a resurface methinks.

Excellent, glad yawl had a good day and thanx for the pix. I was hoping for 9.9s, just so I could brag by proxy Did you have any Front wheel aloft issues , that's what'd scare me.

I wouldn't mind a go at that, sounds like great fun.

Nup, not a chance. All the bike wanted to do was head sideways with smoke coming off the rear wheel. It was breaking loose in bloody third gear.

I'd love to see what she'd do on a properly prepped track that had a bit more traction than, say, a wet mossy road covered in cowshit. I suspect the front would reach for the sky real good-like in such circumstances.

Heck, I suspect everyone there today would have knocked a good second off their times if we'd just gone out and done the runs on a quarter-mile worth of highway out the front!

Someone told me they only clean up the surface for major events. And yeah, the track was extremely slippery, but got better. I saw the GSXR1000 and a few other cars wheelspinning for near two thirds of the track distance.

My best was 11.8 @ 186k, so was pretty happy with that considering.
I'm thinking the bike should be good for near 11 flat on a good day.

Nice to meet some of you guys too.

Glad I when down ta give Jrandom some "immortal" support. Really enjoyed my day even though the wet and rubber was making it hard ta stop "Zena's" arse wiggle
First run was a sad 13.517s 1/4. Drag Strip was cold and damp. Had dropped the Power Road Two rear to 20psi. Heaps of scary arse wiggling nearly ta the 1/8 mark. Next was a even sadder 13.824 but improved to a 13.135 the following run. The next rub "Zena" just bet "Betty" with a 13.098 to "her" 13.110.
Just before setting my dial-up I dropped ta 15psi and opted to launch in 2nd cracking the 13s mark with a 12.856 so pick 12.8 for the day. Buggered that up first run with a 13.081 getting beaten by a old Datsun 180B with a dial of 18 (he run 18.057)
Relegated ta the looser row for the grudge matches my next run was the best time of the day for me with a 12.397 just beating a Triple Speed (12.411). Was also my top speed @ the 1/4 for the day. 179.69kph.
Rest of my runs varied between 12.4 and 13.05. Major arse wiggle every time I ended in the left lane. Last run asked the starter ta line me up with Jrandom for a GSX1400K7 head ta head Grudge Match. Dam it ended up in the left lane and got "Zena's" arse whooped by "Betty" 12.833 (@179.73kph) to my 13.023 (@174.77kph) But still enjoyed the run and it made J's day too
