Any tips for prospective C50 owner?

dos and donts, things to look for etc

    they seem simple enough.

if I buy one unregd (lapsed) but with plate presumably I just rock up to VTNZ and say: look at my moped what i brought innit cool?

anything else I need to know?

Actually, I think you just need to go in with the relevant engine/frame/whatever number fill in the form and pay the $$. Nobody actually wants to see your scooter.

The gearshift is backwards! Race-pattern! If it keeps stalling and won't pull, you're in 3rd

    What year?

They are dead cool, you've got that right. You figure out where to get parts, and once I get back to NZ in three weeks I can start rebuilding mine.

    Score!

I always wanted the C90 as it has a few more testicles than the 50. The mail man just turned up before I read this on a similar type of ride. Anyone know what posties ride these days?

CT110 I think. They still make them new -- surprisingly pricey though.

If you want more balls, get a Loncin/Shineray/Lifan 110 or 125. Same mounting points. CDI, too, and 12V. Some even seem to be 3-valve? Lots of people have done the conversion and reported good things.

Of course, then no moped registration (or at least you'd be a little worried every time you saw a plod), so expensive registration and you need a WoF.

You can get a chinese 140cc motor that will bolt in

C90 was the bigger version of the C50.

CT90 (fantastic farm bike) used the same motor.
It's OK to disagree with me. I can't force you to be right.
