Neighbours and The Vicar of Dibley have been singled out by Asian and black viewers in the UK as being too white.

Now Neighbours started at a time when the only "ethnic" people in Queensland were Maori and Aborigines were derelicts hanging out in an area of Brisbane that was turned into Expo '88. The comedy was set in a little ENglish village of the kind that abound across the country. Most "ethnic" people reside in the major connurbations. How would artifcially inserting people of a different ethnic background have added to the comedy without VoD being accused of the same stereotyping that Coro and Eastenders have had leveled at it?

I think the Asians and Blacks of Great Britain ought to go out and buy themselves some white hoods and deal with the real issues around racism in Britain like Ghettos and Illegal immigration that fuels sweat shops in London.

Who sits watching TV thinking about the lack of asians/blacks/indians when watching TV?! really.

The way it will go is reversed, they will start choosing minority actors over white actors, not because of talent, but because they are a minority and dont want to get their arses sued for being racist.

Moaning about stereotypical roles? Ive never seen an indian superhero, but I just went to get a pie from the dairy, and low and behold, run by indians. Its reality.


So now when I switch on Maori TV, or that chinese one, shall I cry myself to sleep because their are no white, english speaking people on those entire channels?
