Do you think we should have a Harley Davidson Forum

Hey, I had a look at that site, I almost sent a reply but then I thought "what's the point?", he obviously has a "thing" against Harleys (probably in the 2nd catagory "those that want a Harley!!).
Each to their own, I just happen to like Harleys and I have broad enough shoulders to caryy the shit that is slung in my direction from Harley slaggers

Just a thought, - if all the Harleys disappeared from this planet who would be next in line to get the shit slung at them? - rest assured just because the Harleys were gone the "Harley slagger" types wouldn't be happy, some other brand would be getting it and it might just be your favourite brand.

I don't give a shit what you ride.
I'm not slagging the bike, just the rider.
There are some sad fuckers out there (and some in here) who think that what they ride defines them. That goes fer 50 year old dentists who think a V-Rod and five grands worth of accessories can buy them "attitude" and equally for R1 riders who think that 180hp equals a bigger penis...

Couldn't agree more with you Oscar. I don't mind HD's I just don't like the snobbish attitude from most of the HD riders. Likewise buying an R1 doesn't mean you can ride like Rossi.

The school my daugther goes to did a big fundraiser. One of the main things was rides on the back of a HD. A couple of the HD riders pulled out at the last moment so I brought the MV along to make up numbers. Of the 4 HD riders only 1 would talk to me. The rest would hardly look at me.

Yep, that’s the attitude that sucks. It doesn't matter what you stride, if you think it's better than everything else and makes you better for riding it, then your just a twat.

Almost makes me want to wave hysterically at every harley I pass just to take the piss. Almost.

I wonder if it works the other way.

I can just imagine Mr Harleyman coming home to his [start/stereotype] headquarters after a hard (I mean slow) day of roaming the badlands. He pulls down his bandana and says to his mate busily cooking amphetamines. "Damn those plastic riders and their waving... What kind of attitude is that? Damn fags waving at me because they love my Harley so much.... Today the sun was in my eyes and I accidently waved back at one without thinking... felt so stupid...and queer." [end/stereotype]

Cant say I really care either way. I tend to wave at whatever

Geez -- so much for the much lauded "brotherhood of bikers". The traffic on the thread asking a similar question about scooter riders seems to have a similar amount of venom attached. If it's got two wheels and a motor?? There, for the grace of God, we could all be Harley riders!!

perhaps its just an ego thing no matter what we ride. I see cruisers that don't wave, harleys that don't wave, and I'm sure there's squids that don't wave... all because they think they're too damn cool/smooth/fast to acknowledge someone elses' friendship.
maybe those people buy into that when they get their V-ROD, R1, GSXR, BMW whatever and then feel obliged to be holier-than-thou forever after.

As for everyone else, no matter what they ride, hopefully the motorcycling glue is still working because it has no reason not too.

I say have a forum if it'll get used, not based on whether its PC or not. be practical about it, not biased. I don't see too many harley riders on here so maybe its not worth it because it mightn't get used.

After reading the comments in this thread I had to ask myself...how much of the Harley slagging is based on fact.

I know that Harley's have a shocking reputation for breaking down but is this actual reality, where are the statistics??
If it is true, then HD must have by far one of the best sales & marketing strategies in the world to be able to continue selling bikes at the price they are asking.
Here's a thought...how many Harley's have problems simpily because of there age? It seems that there are heaps more old Harley's than other types of old bikes (I could be wrong).

How often do people wave at Harley's, perhaps they don't wave back because they've got the same attitude as us sports bike riders...the "I'm not gonna wave first in case they don't wave back!!" attitude.

Personally, I prefer the look and ride of sports bikes and I don't normally wave at Harley's, but I'm going to make an effort and start.

Actualy Harleys are fairly new to New Zealand - they were only imported in small numbers starting in the early 70s,not much of a market for them,by the 80s they stated to become more popular. Our biker image was based on the British bikes, then the yuppy culture took hold and having the right toy became important. That's why some look down on Harleys...and sports bikes - they are fashion statment.

Since when did sports bikes become a fashion statement? Ick. Quite frankly I think the shiny plastic and matching one-piece leather thing just looks naff. Take note, all you closet metrosexual motorcyclists.

I come back to my previous threads - at the end of the day there is a bike for everyone. If everyone liked the same bike - motorcycling would be dead boring. Some like to cruise (Harley, Vmax, etc etc) some like to race (r1, gsxr, 954 etc), some like to tour (VFR, RF etc), some like them naked (Monster, CB), some like them semi faired (Fazer, VTR) some like the twins (TLR, TLS, VTR, Harley), some like American (Harley, Buell), some like British (Triumph et all) some like Jap (you know)........

In saying that - many of the bikes are starting to look the same anyway - esp out of japan. I must say - if I was only going to do m'way riding for big kays - a harley would be mighty appealling esp if I was taking a pillion.

IT does however seem that Sports Bike riders are more inclined to wave to Harley Riders with no response - than the other way around? (IMO) Why is that?

They are welcome to their own forum......but why segregate them any more than they are on the road??

In all fairness I have to say a fairly large proportion of the harley style bikes I see on the road up here do wave, although there are a few amonst them with attitudes that are too macho to wave to other mere mortals, but you get that with anything and everything not just morotcycling, in any area of sport or leisure there will always be a small minority that have an attitude that they are better than everyone else. My attitude is they are ridiing a bike so why not at least acknowledge the fact and if they dont wave back its them that has the problem.......... just my opion.

I know I shouldn't generalise, but since a couple of Harley riding poseurs dragged their faggy fringe and buckle saddlebags down the side of my car at Leading Edge tyres. I think the whole bunch can drown in a tub of their own shit.
I guess they were too important to wait 20 seconds for me to move the car or use the second driveway. Fuck em!
