    Chris's VMCC Round 3

    Test day

Was dry in the morning, so got out and had a look around the track, played with some different lines on the last corner.
Started raining in the session after lunch and almost everyone came back in, I stayed out and played on my Bridgestone 090s managing a best time of 1.28.
Came back into the pits and put my wets on, went out again. Dam those things are sticky! Got my knee down on splash for the first time, then tipping into Higgins the bike just stopped.
Gay… Pulled it apart and found that I had filled my CDI with water… oops!

    Race day
Woke up and got my CDI out of the heater, went to the track and plugged it in. Bike started first pop, MINT!

    F3 – Superlite
    Qualifying.
Coming out of the pits the bike missed a bit, had nothing over 10,000 except a few backfires qualified 16th but looking at the times I knew if I got a reasonable start I could get near the front.
    Race One.
Love how much grip wets have, round the outside in turn one, round the inside in splash round whatever gap I found on the lefthander, and counted 4 bikes in front of me down the straight. Put my head down and went for. I finished 4th
    Race Two
The track was drying out and I was thinking about putting the 090s back on. I didn’t.
Got another decent start, but almost rammed a blue bike half way round turn one, passed him on the next corner then got some clear track. Saw that Nicky was half the straight ahead and spent the race trying to catch her while staying ON the track. Saw the flag waving. Finished the race in 4th place. Good race Nicky!

    Post Classics
    Qualifying
A little annoyed at my Qualifying time from F3 I bump started my bike (must get a new battery before next round) Cruzed around for 2 laps and built up a gap in front.
Went for it and had caught up before the end of the lap, dam! I should have realized that those on wets were not having much fun today. Qualified 3rd though! First time on the front row at VMCC

    Race One.
Got passed by a few of the bigger bikes in the drag race to turn one, they all braked and I stayed on the gas until I was past them again, tipped in, bike kept going straight but then turned in and went nicely around the outside of the rest. Started passing the guys that had no wets, almost felt sorry for Stevie while going around the outside of a drifting CBR that was going half the speed. Then Matt on his white/black VFR flashed past down the front straight. Still need to work out that last corner. Caught him again round the twisty bit but he disappeared after Higgins. Suddenly thought that if I cut across the grass after the left hander I might be able to pass him again but it was quite slippery and I binned. My first DNF this season.

    Race Two.
The track was pretty dry now so I spent warm up lap looking for puddles. Had a reasonable start and had a short battle with a FZR 1000 but I got up the inside on turn one and then blocked him from passing me coming out, didn’t see him again, Spent the race watching Matt pulling away and staying on track. The rear tyre started to go off and had a bit of fun getting on the gas for the last 3 laps. Finished 2nd with Nicky right there behind me. 1st 2nd and 3rd places were VFRs… NICE!

Thanks to Xile and Kiwifruit for the pictures. Phill for the ride down and Stevie for kicking my fornt end back to shape after i tried that shortcut.
Xile for the pit crewing and for and tidying up while i tried to start my bike on friday.

Wooo...You've been really fast that F3 race (..until you decided to do the lawn)!
Was really awesome to see you fly on the track and pass 2 or 3 bikes in only one corner!!
Shame you did not see Gareth, Lisa, Phill, Phill's dad and me waving at you lol!!
First time on being pit crew so hopefully, it was not too bad

    And congrats on results: 2nd!!

I was up above the pits watching the first post classics race when you were running in third. Was a brilliant move up the inside of splash to pass the FZR1000 and the other guy on the VFR - f00ken NEOW!!!!

Good work dude, need to find a way to get a bit more power out of that thing for working the straights and then me might see some first places!

well that makes for an easier transition across the grass for those overzealous passing maneuvers that Chris enjoys so much.
