I felt it in my old rickety bones a few weeks before that it was gonna be a wet one last weekend, so for some reason I was fairly prepared for it, it helped that I saw the motogp a few weeks before when they raced in the wet, I watched the race over and over again and learned a few little tricks from the really big boys..
We set up camp in our usual shed on the Friday, ready for testing, but with my new shiny machine, I really didn’t want to test, I didn’t see any need to really apart form seing if the bike was running normally and everything worked as it should,
so I went out for about three laps, and all seemed fine.
Old Dodgy’ Trashie, Gareth, Lisa and Aria and Tim and myself (including Jimmys sponsors) went out for an interesting night. “one” that will remain in my memory banks for some time to come” I will not elaborate any further.!!!!J
Following day came along and we all got up nice and early to get to the track,
Did some scrub in on my wets and was good to goJ
Qualifying superbike,
I qualified about 12 th I think .. thought I did better but there ya go..
Race oneJ
I had mentally prepared and got off to a wicked start about 6 th or 7 th in the first turn,
Managed to hang on to trashie and actually started gaining until my visor started fogging, it made for some uncomfortable turns in the last few laps, finished 7 th
Race twoJ
Started not so good, ended up behind toast in the first turn, then even though I drilled some holes in my visor, shit got really bad.. after the first lap cos I was riding blind, i thought about packing it in.. then sam crashed…
Ended up in pit lane, thinking “fuck this visor,!!
We all went out again I started really good, toast in front of me missed a gear so was able to shoot past him, ended up about 5 th in the turn with glen going round me on his 250 (wicked riding dude, right then I had a mental note to sponsor you when I finally give this shit up as im sure in time to come you will end up in superbike or even motogp)
Anyways I digress….
My visor started givin me muchoo grief after two odd laps, through turns I managed to lift it every now and again to clear it, but I lost valuable seconds doing so,and ended up 6 th.
All in all good racing a the bike is till nice and shiny, many thanks to gareth and lisa for heleping out,
