And yes, I smoke. Not giving up (at this stage) either. If/when I do, it'll be because I want to, not cos someone made me.
See, you wuz Scots like McJim and me you would be seeing the financial side of not fagging - and you could have a flash Ducati too.

I smoke. Temporarily gave up three times, when I got preggies, but as I got stressed quite easily I took it up again each time. No excuse, get told all the time to give up, usually by my children, they keep telling me they don't want me to die. I kinda think of it as a weakness, that I haven't given up, but I am cutting down.

Went into a service station a week or so ago to get a packet, and the lady behind the counter told me its a dirty habit, and I should take up alcohol instead, but we decided that was just as expensive, so she told me to take up sex as its free!!! Wish it was that easy!! Cant go out the office door for a quickie!

Yep...to be able to afford the repair/service bills....
    Over and out.
Do you realise how many holes there could be if people would just take the time to take the dirt out of them?

Hubby smokes, people keep asking when when I am going to make him give up. Short answer is I'm not. Its got to be his decision or it just wont work and he will resent me for it! He will decide one day. and in the mean time he smokes outside, rain or shine!

Hmm, McJim has never mentioned the need for excessive repair/service bills but hey, by giving up smoking I guess he can afford them!!!

LMFAO!!! You're as bad as Pussy, a discussion on XYZ topic, no one telling ANYONE what they can or can't do, just what they (and the rest of the sane world) know to be a fact & here you are getting all bent out of shape lol..........why? No one is pointing a finger at you personally, its your choice to smoke, you are old enough to make up your own mind if you want to poison your body. No one is telling you that you MUST give up. I personally couldn't give too hoots if you get sick from smoking, I don't know you & probably never will, knock ya self out sunshine
To laugh often and much; to win the respect of intelligent people and the affection of children; to earn the appreciation of honest critics and to endure the betrayal of false friends. To appreciate beauty; to find the best in others; to leave the world a bit better whether by a healthy child, a garden patch, or a redeemed social condition; to know that even one life has breathed easier because you have lived. This is to have succeeded

Okay - I had a few teething problems with the Ducati due to previous owner neglect.

Electrics shorted out (at night on the open road!) located the short in the headlight and re wired it - has been fine ever since.

Oil leak due to a previous owner snapping the chain and it punched a hole in the engine casing. They fixed it with bog. I got a professional to fix it with aluminium.

Speedo cable and rev counter cables both snapped due to rust (due to water built up in them)

Apart from that she has been good to me. Replaced the tyres and chain and brake pads and belts - all the usual stuff - not too pricey from Haldanes.

I wouldn't tell anyone to stop smoking - MSTRS I don't remember preaching at you to stop smoking in your own house did I? If I did I apologise.

Maha - sorry about the oil leak. It doesnae leak anymore!

AND...if the worst comes to the worst you could always sell the oil-leaking, sparking red mess and get some $$ back.....BUT ya don't see too much demand for 10 years worth of dog-ends and worn out Bic-Flics do ya??

I could probably count on one hand how many cigarettes i have had in my life. Doesnt interest me, just makes me feel ill. I am ashamed to admit that both my teenagers smoke. My son says "well what example have i had" as my partner smokes.
I have never nagged at my partner to quit(of course i would prefer it) as i just dont understand the addicitive side to it. He has to do it for himself, no one else. He started to smoke around 13 years old and is now 39.
As for my kids, i am saddened, with the campaining around now, there is no excuse to start. I do not support them in purchasing cigarettes at all, and its a smoke free home, outside even in winter.
