I dunno if anyone else has said it, but one thing garlic does not cure is garlic breath.

Don't have a flu, but have been coughing since Saturday and rather gross the liquid (in my lunges?) that burbles when I cough. Yuck.

Hate to say it, ain't been sick for ages.

Eat lotsa veges, roasted, boiled, raw, soup, any way, any time, any how. Garlic, onions, alcohol, broc', beets, tomatoes, you can never eat too many veges. Fish, seafood in general, mussels, scallops whatever.....

    Never kiss a hooker.

Okay, so alcohol isn't a vegetable, but it creates plenty.

Eat well, sleep well, don't stay up too late blabbing on dumb websites, get lotsa sex, fresh air and tell yourself every day that you're not gonna get sick.

Works for me. Especially the alcohol bit.

May not cure you but you can forget about it for a bit.

I had the flu, took ages to get rid of it too, most of the lads at work have it as well. What I want to know is why I am the only one who didn't take time off work when I had it, and they all went home, moaning and groaning about it, complaining they were dieing etc.... silly men. (Although I guess I might have been responsible for giving them the flu, got to share the love around!).

Sounds silly but Chicken Soup (Home made) does work, I also took alot of lemsip (some people cant stand the stuff). Just stay warm and rest I guess.

Ditto. Had cold / cough for 3 1/2 weeks before I went to the dr a second time. She couldn't believe I wasn't asthmatic and gave me an inhaler and more antibiotics. Wish the darn thing would

I'm into day 12 with the bloody flu! Rest of the family have got it now aswell.

I go years without ever catching the flu. This is the longest that I've been sick that I can remember in decades. There just seems to be no end in sight?
You've done you bit, made me sore and miserable, now piss off!

Had 3 days off work so far but every morning is a struggle to get out of bed. I just don't want to discuss what this shit is that I'm coughing up from my lungs..yuck
Oh yeah, Doc gave me an inhaler too. Made no difference. Other than that a wasted trip to the Doc to be told there's nothing for it.

Anyone else had coughing marathons that go on so long that you chuck up? Or am I the only lucky one to experience that side effect.

I'm just getting over it now.

I had both viral and bacterial symptoms, I found that a pseudoephridine nasal spray and nurofen let me sleep at night. I was sick for 3 weeks and tired out for another 2. Still have a hacking cough which is hanging around still.

What he said. Viruses can't survive in Vit C but the trick is to absolutely flood yourselve with it. You can tell when you're reaching saturation point by the loose bowels as you start 'overflowing'. If you can find Clinicians brand "Family C" get the powder and increase dosage (1 teaspoon = 2000 mg) until you hit overflow then back off to about 'safe to fart' level (probably 3-4 tsp/day). Family C is gentler on the stomach at higher doses than other Cs and includes bioflavonoids which help get it where it needs to be.

Also check out your health shop or chemist for anti flu treatments which include andrographis (also called Kalmeg). Think echinacea on steroids and that pretty much describes andrographis. Works a treat if you get into a developing lurgy early enough.

If all else fails rub throat with alcohol (from the inside).
