FYI, The same motor is in:

    GS125
DR125/DRZ125/KLX125 (possibly different gear ratio depending on year)
    GZ125
LT125 (at least from the crank up).

If you are not worried about cc restrictions, then a DR/DF200 motor is also a choice.

I have 3 of em in various stages of worn and broken. Try the Palmy North and Wairarapa wreckers.

    Cheers,

Thanks for that info, I have a motor which the bottom end is in good condition but was run dry in oil and has stuffed the cam shaft, cylinder head and rockers. I have rung around and bugger me if I can not find second hand bits, I have been quoted about $700 to get the top end rebuilt and thought It might be easier just to buy a good runner so my mate can get his bike back on the road for now. Will a DR/DF200 motor bolt straight in? What is the name of the bike wreckers in Palmy North and the Wairarapa, Any help would be great

Not quite the same although the internals are to some degree

Only the Gn has the electric start and is a 5 speed compared to the DR at least being a 6 speed

rockers and cam are probably a easy fix as I had Kelfords in Chch repair mine when I did the same although it was about $200 to get the rockers bult up and the cam tidied up, if the head isn't to bad I'd run it anyway

There's a guy on Ebay selling replacement cylinder head kits for the GN/GS etc 125. Chinese OEM replacement parts (there's a chinese copy of the engine - I forget whats it's called). Goes for about 50 quid plus 30 quid postage (from Malaysia?)
