WANTED: 250cc sportish 2 or 4 stroke in any working condition.

    Hi there all,

I am a student and am after a 250cc 2 or 4 stroke bike in any working mechanical condition.

    Preferably sport/ish 250: RGV250, CBR250, ZXR250, FZR250, TZR250 but am interested in a naked too.

Preferably with scratched up/damaged/dropped/etc fairings and exterior (am a student!)

I do not mind a few flaws and faults as long as they are not too serious engine wise.

    Cheers,

    Todd.

    Hey Bro,

I have front section of an RGV (from front forks to handle bars), frame of a CBR, ZXR swing arm (its been scratched, damaged and dropped though still in sweet as condition), I've got a FZR250 engine and engine bolts from a TZR. Though I have special Honda to Yamaha adaptor bolts if required.

Could be a good project for someone?

Hey, Does this mean that a FZR250 engine will fit into a CBR frame using adapter bolts?

Yeah it should do, though the radiator on the FZR will be the trickest part. I suggest a BFH to mold it into place.

Oh wow, that makes my life a tad easier. My CBR blew up on Tuesday, two holes in the crankcase.. something to do with the conrod? (Don't know lots about engines... just what the mechanic said). Having trouble finding a CBR engine though, but i have stuff like the CBR radiator.. could that be attached instead of the FZR one? Or are they in different places? Do you know whether all the Japanese 250 Inline fours will be similar enough to put in? And is it a hassle.. like am i much better off just to wait for a cbr engine to come along?

    Hi
I think you would have to wait till you started farting dust to come across a cbr 250 engine worth putting into your bike. Fixing your engine will be costly to say the least but probably worth it. Got any mates that can do the work for you?

Well the guys at the Suzuki shop in Feilding said it would be better to get another motor.. so im not sure what exactly it entails to fix my one.. if its possible..
My Boyfriend used to do work experience at Boyd's in Hamilton and they let him use their Workshop and tools and help him out, he just pays for parts. So i wouldnt have to play for labour.

Dont listen to Westie, he's full of shit! Grab a couple of your mates and go to repco and buy a BFH (part number #435598), seriously that tool is like the bible! It shouldnt be too hard fix as I've done something similar....

    Lol woops my bad. :P

The only motors i've found have at least 80,000kms on them so im not keen on putting those in my bike.

Will a GSX-R motor fit as well?

No worries, just remember to ask about the BFH tool and see if they have any for sale or something.

    Hope this helped you out?

I assume you're bright enough to know when someone is taking the piss, but if not.... a BFH (Big Fucking Hammer) is the least of your worries (although a decent hammer should be in everyones toolbox), so ignore the idoit.

No an FZR250 motor will not fit in your CBR250 chassis, you will need to get another CBR engine... but I'm guessing the 'Yamaha to Honda adaptor bolts' make it pretty obvious that the OP is being an idiot.

Will be easier to get another motor than to rebuild yours, especially if a con rod has decided to exit the motor via the crankcase (that' pretty fatal and not worth fixing unless there's something rare about a motor).

Try the Victorian Motorcycle Wreckers in Australia. They will definitely have a motor, and will definitely ship it to you.
