    Insurance

    Insult to Injury.

My assessor has been sent to Thailand thanks to both the Tsunami and the International flavour of my Insurance company.

My claim can't continue until he finishes his report. He'll be away for an indeterminate amount of time.

I don't know how many more "Acts of God" I can take. Still my "tragedy" is minor compared to where the assessor has gone.

    But still.....

    ...Sigh...
If a man is alone in the woods and there isn't a woke Hollywood around to call him racist, is he still white?

They processed more than 1000 claims lodged between Dec 24th and Dec 28th, so while that isn't my problem I can understand the mess they'll be in right now. Of course now they have very few assessors available locally thanks to events out of their control too I'll just have to be patient. If they can't do it, they can't do it. Sucks but.

I also don't wanna go whining when they're stressed. Riding motorcycles is a high risk venture, and the last thing I need is an unofficial blacklisting because I did whine when things were tough.

I'll second that, despite the fact that the assessor has been shipped overseas you're not receiving a standard of service expected and paid for. The company should have make provision to look after your case professionally and in a timely manner.

I'm no NZ legal expert but in the UK this kind of failure by the company to deliver a service as they have been contracted undertake is covered under the Consumer Act, in that the service you are receiving is not "fit for purpose".

Why the heck would they send a vehicle assessor to Thailand? I mean, do we really need to ensure that the Tsunami victims get back on their motorcycles ASAP?

...PS. Wonder if you would have gotten faster service if it was damaged in the Hutt floods?

At least it's a more original excuse than "the cheque's in the post"...

Is the NZ insurance industry going to come to a halt because of the Tsunami?
That's the biggest crock I've heard today

Sorry Jim, they just hate you! That's a real bugger though mate. Glad that my claim was sorted back in November.

Hope it all works out in the end.

NO,NO,NO..............if you want an insurance company,or anyone else to shift their arse you give them an ear-bending long, loud and often. You make them so pissed-off with you that they want to get rid of you.You wont get black-listed because they want your money next time round.Their stress is not your problem, you`ve paid for a service and you`ve every right to get it.Motorcycling is a high risk venture as you say, that`s why you pay so much for insurance.Your part of the deal is you pay the money, their part is they pay for your bike if you bend it.You kept your part, they`re obligated to do their part.I agree with Lou,it`s bollocks mate, they`ve barely got clean running water in the affected parts let alone a queue of people who`s priority right now is filling in insurance claim forms.
Take a lesson from my old man,if he`s got a problem he phone`s up,states his problem and asks to speak "to the idiot responsible",some poor un-suspecting guy answers the phone and gets "I`ve got a problem and asked for the idiot responsible,I assume that`s you then?"neat opening line.

Well thanks to you aggressive pushy people who MADE me ring up and be politely bolshie, the release form is on it's way. Once they get that back in the mail, I get my money.

Please feel free to insert the "Tui phrase".
