Yes, well, we'll see. Apparently I'm getting market value for my pay out which is more than (slightly) I had it insured for. Is that standard practice or did I just get a visit from the tooth fairy?

It should be sorted this afternoon, and I should be paid by Monday. I'm test riding a prospective purchase on Sunday.

    Tooth fairy for sure.

Anyone else who got more from their insurance company than they were expecting?

The only thing I can think of (don't have the policy at work) is that I had the bike insured at market value with a nominated agreed minimum value.

    Nup.
I got slightly less than I expected, but it was exactly equal to the current insured market value.
I whinged about it, and they said if I got two other written quotes from bike shops that said it was worth more, then they'd split the difference between that and the insured value. So, I went to two other shops, and they both said, "They said it was worth that much?!? Take the money and run!"
    ... and that's what I think.

    Or summat.

    Or maybe not...

    Dunno really....

I had a bike insured for $6500 on a market value policy.
They payed $7500 to me as that was it's market value was at the time of the w/o.
Thanks AMI! I'll take the money.

It was a cunning plan, and I am forever grateful to the assessing company for this one - Sum insured PLUS GST.

Assessing Company lady:"Oops He seems to have insured his motorcycle for market value less GST. Silly man (insert batting eyelids here)."

Insurance Company: "Oh yes, so he has"

There are people out there who help sometimes after all.

    All together now: Ahhhhhhhhhhh
