If i'm going to all that trouble of getting the tank off I like to do a few checks and other bits and pieces while its off, even just sit on a bucket and look at it, makes me feel better.
Just done a 3 day trip down the coast on mine with luggage, mate these bikes love being loaded up off road, kept mine quite civilized.

FFS keep the panniers away from the muffler, thought mine were far enough away but just the fumes burnt the panniers and cooked parts of mrs jatz's sleeping bag

The bags were about 3 inches above the muffler and back as far as the indicator.
I'll have a look through the photos and see if I can find something that explains it better.

This is not the best place to put soft bags(ready to head for the coast)

After burning the r/h side I moved them forward so the back of the bag was level with the end of the muffler and I was sitting on the front strap

Most importantly you got the go faster stickers as well Hope they work as well for you as they did for me. From my reading clean the forks out with while spirits (Calite, Shellite are brand names). Kero apparently leaves a gritty residue.

UG the wilbers shock is very very nice. Just tonight I did a 50ish km's of corrugated gravel and the XTZ handled it way way better than the DR650 ever did. The bike actually felt comfortable and stable over the corrugations, would accelerate (instead of "bogging down") and was generally very controllable. If you can stump up the cash it is worth the effort. Keen to hear your thoughts on the sus set up when you have had a play jatz.
