But, agreed, there's nothing quite like blasting along the right bit of open road.

However. You don't actually ride like the sort of maniac you portray yourself as, do you, carver? I've seen you ride, man, got behind you for a while on that last big Coro loop. You're safe as, ride a good pace, decent lines, take less risks than I've seen many taking.

You just go on about this racing-on-the-road shit on the forum to wind people up. Your self-preservation instincts take over once you're actually on the bike.

I have to agree that elements of road riding are very rewarding - at less than suicidal pace

that is half true, i do try keep others safe as i ride, be aware of those around me etc...
i can and do ride stupidly though, like lanesplitting moving cars on the rear wheel at 2x their speeds
