    NASA 50 years old yesterday

We're so blase about this stuff that no one cares.

Not only that the Deputy Chief Administrator is a a freaking Homeland Security Spook.

    You go from this:

    http://www.nasa.gov/topics/history/g...space_act.html

    To this in 50 years:

    http://www.nasa.gov/about/highlights/dale_bio.html

One female legal eagle who fervently believed in the peaceful exploration of space to another leagle beagle 50 years later who probably believes they should make sure every payload is is at least 50% spy satellite.

Anyone who takes a job with an organisation called "Homeland Security" should understand that the free handgun, earpiece, and black unifrom come with a free trial a bit further down the track.
If a man is alone in the woods and there isn't a woke Hollywood around to call him racist, is he still white?

... Spy satellites? No no no - that'd mean the US was looking to control global politics and stuff.

I wonder what ever happened to the Star Wars programme BTW...?

I wonder what Shana will look like when she turns 102.
It is preferential to refrain from the utilisation of grandiose verbiage in the circumstance that your intellectualisation can be expressed using comparatively simplistic lexicological entities. (...such as the word fuck.)

Last time i checked she was still in service
in fact if you look across a clear night sky (in NZ) you can see a part of it go from east to west at approx 7pm-8pm (daylight savings and all that).
Range was down however - can only destroy a fridge at about 2-3km.

Probably just funding, really, innit? I mean, I don't know very much at all about it, but wasn't the whole space programme thing all about beating the USSR? May have had somebody in charge who wanted it to be about peace and for the good of mankind and all of that, but politically... was it?

So nowadays there's no more USSR, but with the same sort of nutters in charge of the country, NASA still has to justify its existence somehow. Especially with the Bush government slashing science and research funding left right and centre (unless it has something to do with guns).
