Talking smutty about anything is ok by me..........

I was just trying to figure if you had any kind of church-based background. I was (sadly) brought up in a catholic household, went to catholic schools and when I rejected the whole thing I freaked the entire family out. Big time.

I'm happy to say that since then most (if not all) of my siblings (I'm the youngest of six) have seen the light and given the church a miss.

The one thing I'll thank the church for is opening my eyes. Short story:

I used to go to church. There was this guy who took the collection, he was my best mates old man, a pillar of society. On saturday night he would drink and bash not only the kids but his wife as well, then go to church on Sunday, probably for forgiveness. When my mate was old enough he stood up to his dad and told him to lay off his mum. That's staunch! I'll never forget Mark N for that, nor will I ever forget the hypocrisy of it all.

Mark and I went fishing every Sunday after that, instead of wasting time in church. I've always thought that such activities were far more relevant/important than worshiping something intangible, invisible and so seemingly uncaring.

Quality time with the tangible folk I love is the pinnacle of life for me.

    Rant over.

I was exposed to various religions as a youngun through Girls brigade and Girl Guides..always found it all terribly boring and restrictive and I just couldn't reconcile a lot of the stuff I was hearing.

Rejecting the faith would've been hard especially if the rest of the family were still wedded to it - brave man...hope they haven't walked away from you.

Wow what a man! Good for him bet his mother was very very proud of her boy that day!

I also have a large collection of 'estranged' (by MY choice) extended family involved in various versions of faith.

No exaggeration here but the once who 'had faith' were all a mixture of Drug dealers (who also involved their kids in it by having them sell pot at school ), wife beaters and child sexual abusers...watching them all walk around like butter wouldn't melt in their mouths then seeing them all pop off on Sundays to confess all and 'wipe the slate clean' never sat well with me. One of my aunties wouldn't leave her very abusive husband because her faith 'doesn't belief in divorce and the womens place is to obey the man'. GIVE ME STRENGTH!

    Nevermind

    Shole
Shole\, n. A plank fixed beneath an object, as beneath the rudder of a vessel, to protect it from injury; a plank on the ground under the end of a shore or the like.

Yup Mark was a good guy, his mum was cool too. Glad he did what he did. I can recall him coming to drink beer with me and trying to sort shit out, I'd never be a teen again, tough time. Plus I don't drink much beer any more. Give me bourbon!

Trying to 'reconcile' stuff? I just got wasted, all the time. You name it, I took it, snorted it, shot it up, whatever. Seriously, you list them and I'll tick them off. That's how I know I have some authority on saying what's not good for your bod. My kids know most of what I've done and they ask what does what to your bod. I never had that advice.

Did my family reject me? No. We have parted ways but it's not about rejection.

    List goes;
No1 a sister, born in the blitz, London, 1940, great woman, five kids, all great people, still with hubby.

No2 a brother, born 1947, five kids up front, one just discovered, overpaid for what he does.

No3 a brother, two kids, both spoilt (but ok people) coz he earns heaps but pays a price, ran off with the PA, his wife is the better woman, never hear from him, probably coz I like his ex-wife more than his new bint.

No4 a sister, had a drunk/abusive hubby, left him, did an ok job on three kids, one just released from the can but P from the b/f was to blame, otherwise not a bad crew.

No5 a sister, five kids, all ok, done well for herself through hard work.

No6, me, not rich but ok, two teenage girls, the only V8 freak/biker in the family.

How's that for fronting up on KB?

You know, I'd be proud to be called an asshole. I've strived for "bitch" for years and years, and am only just achieving it...

I say, if s/he posts, we all pretend to be overwhelmed by how s/he manages to flatter us by name alone. Let's see if we can scare 'em!
Who, me? I just wander from thread to thread.
