    SV 1000 bits

Anyone know a good place for SV1000 bits, in particular a front end, forks, wheel, brakes etc?
Im out of the loop on bike wreckers, so is there any place that I could try for such items in NZ?

    Cheers

I'm looking to buy a 07 thats had a frontal. Have'nt decided whether to make it a naked or back to stock. Was thinking of making it a trackday fun bike.
Its only done 5000km and is mint from the top clamp back.
The forks are rooted and the brake discs too, so looks like an easy option is to put a front end on. Radiator & oil cooler are stuffed, and fairings too.
Seen new fairings in the right colour and headlight on ebay, but the front end is the part I'm wondering about, availibility and cost etc. Just a few little things like a footpeg, gear lever and RF indicator and front guard too.

Can you get those front ends off shore and is it a hassle to do so?

The Gixxer one sounds a good idea.

Ok, for a GSXR front end, in your case you'll need to get an entire front end. If it'll ever see the road again, it'll need to be specific triple clamps, like the GSXR1000K2 (or is K4, I forget) so that the steering lock still works, and the ignition switch still sits in the right place. You'll also need to fit heli bars or convertibars, otherwise they'll hit the fairing, and/or you'll be too far over the front and your wrists will never forgive you. SV1k brake master should happily actuate any of the GSXR front caliper setups, so no biggy there.

There's some small concern over the increased rake of the(shorter) GSXR front ends, my preference would be for the 06/07 GSXR600/750 forks, as simply put, they're the longest.

There are plenty of GSXR front ends to be had in the states... only questions are: Are they straight? Are they complete? Will they ever actually turn up? A few people have been burnt, but work with someone reputable or someone you know well from an overseas forum and you should be ok. Bear in mind that most are from crashed bikes, and well, forks bend.

SV1k radiators can be a little hard to find, so account for that in your costing... if you fan is bent, the CBR600RR ones fit for half the price (new). Oil cooler is just an oil cooler, shit even a trans cooler would probably suffice if you're tight wad.

GSXR brakes aren't really that much better, the K1/K2 6 pots aren't, they're bling bling, but have more flex, and are more prone to sticking pistons. Ultimately it's a moot point as you'll squeal the front and lift the back on stock calipers. Radial calipers do give you an advantage in so much as it lets you change disc... smaller discs are smaller heatsinks, but they also have less rotating mass. Food for thought.

Footpegs, rearsets, levers, all no trouble, have some mint condition 8000km ones stashed in the garage... never been down of course. Can probably find a pair of hand levers too, same deal. Indicators... think I've still got a couple of 6000km old indicators left, one might have a plug chopped off.

Have an 8000km front end as well, considered mint, never been down of course. I've considered a USD front end (it's project bike), would let the standard one go for the right money.

Also have some rear fairings, factory black, paint is worn from a single trip with panniers... Suzuki paint quality is truly shocking. Think there's also a taillight etc stashed away.

Oh, you'll also have to modify the steering damper mount on the frame to work with the GSXR triples, but apparently that's a lot easier than it sounds

    Awesome stuff mate, cheers.

How much do you want for the front end, is it complete, brakes, discs etc?

Just have to figure out costings before I make a go for it.

    Thanks too Cajun.

Yeah, TLs are harder to fit GSXR gear to as the forks/discs are spaced funny (they're similar to Busas instead of GSXRs).
