Hrmm, Algebra and Trig? Which test is this for? I remember some Trig on the Initial Airforce exams, but was mostly tested on Physics, specifically Mechanics.

This is for initial aptitude tests. I've done the full shebang before but that was four years ago, I remember everything else, except the specific content of the tests.

This is the 'practice' examples they give.

I'm going to be talking to recruitment in the next couple of days to confirm what tests i will be sitting, and how long I have to prepare.

Wow, some of those samples show how much I've forgotten since Bursary I remember aceing the tests back then but questions 3 and 4 in the basic maths hurt my brain

Good luck dude! Flying for the Airforce would be a great career! I'm still gutted I missed out thanks to Helen fucking Clarke

Haha, i've got a book on Algebra, and the book i ordered for 'speed maths' arrived today, also just ordered a book specifically on Military Aptitude tests from the states, was recommended it as it is pretty relevant to the RAAF tests which ours are almost a direct copy of.

I do remember those as well, the one i remember was "I feel sorry for animals in cages"

PERSEL wasn't as hard as I thought it would be, but I know that I want to hit it this time with my maths a lot tidier than it was last time.

I missed out in competition, turns out if i had applied 3mths later I would have got in.

Wait your applying for a 2nd time? Have they changed their stance on that?

After I recieved the letter "Due to recent events, blah blah blah, loss of Aircraft etc etc, we are regretfully cancelling your intake.... signed some dickhead" I went and did my CPL and re-applied 2 years later.

I was then told that while I had "Passed" the selection process initially, you are unable to re-apply

You're allowed to re-sit PERSEL a second time, assuming you didnt fail the monkey box (co-ordination test) the first time.

I got a letter 18mths after my PERSEL course saying that I was eligible to reapply.

The fact that you had your CPL is probably what took you out of contention, you had 230+hrs of civilian flying habits. They like people with a strong interest in Aviation which they can train to their own habits and procedures, this is why I havent taken up any formal training before knowing I can't go through with the Air Force gig.

Ahh yea that makes sense... I had 3 mates go through before me and all got knocked out by the Monkey Box. When I initially went through I had about 30hrs flight time making the box a lot easier.

    When I re-applied I had over 300 hours

Good luck mate, hope it all goes well for ya! Out of all the options you've laid out recently, the RNZAF would by far my preferance!
