A Hamilton man who assaulted his partner and her mother in a "gutless" attack has been sentenced to 200 hours' community work.

Titan Porima, 26, appeared in the Hamilton District Court for sentencing yesterday after pleading guilty to three charges of assaulting a female.

The court was told that on November 16 last year Porima assaulted his partner, punching her in the face.

The victim's mother was also assaulted by Porima when she tried to intervene.

While on bail, Porima assaulted his partner again, striking and kicking her.

Judge Phillip Connell described Porima's offending as "gutless". Porima also faces nine months' supervision.
