The Penzance track as far as im aware turns into the pylon track at the Elaine bay end, we started at the Tennyson side and got about half a k in. Manhandled the AT up the first slippery bit then had to push/drag the 640 up the next one, it was at that point we decided to let it dry out a bit before attempting it again next time. If it was really dry i don't think that it would have presented too may issues but the wet clay/moss/slime was so slippery we could hardly walk on some of it let alone ride the bikes up.

Yip the bikes a terdme special from Dorkland, thanks for the links it's great to hear some of her history.

Hoping to do exactly this ex Chch around this time as a pre DB1k "training" ride and to check out the state of some of the tracks re windfall and slips etc. Let us know when you are planning on coming down as I recon there will be a couple of us keen to join in (if you don't mind hanging with SI rabble).

    Cheers R

[QUOTE=cooneyr;1756743]Uncle-in-law use to have a bach in Penzance. Been looking at the pylon track over to the top to the Elaine Bay road for a while now. Is that the one you did or did you go around the foreshore walking track? If you did the pylon track how does it compare with the likes of the Manga for difficulty?

That pylon track makes a useful loop, I've done it by myself on the @ from the Elaine end in the dry ...not advisable because there are some hard places to pick a heavy bike up from , The 4x4's dont seem to use it cause theres a tree down you can just get under on a bike .definately doable in the dry with more than one person (we,ll be back ) Compared to the Manga? Manga,s a doddle , I met 3 guys on fanny ticklers up there a couple of weeks ago.

Maunga has a bit of mud at the moment.
Well it does if you go looking for it.
This is a hard section of the first pylon track yesterday as I was testing the carb settings and new pipe.
Your boots sunk in about half a boot and the rear tyre sunk in to the axle.
There's a little trickle of creek water that keeps it all wet.
Shocking conclusion: IRC GP110's are not the ideal mud tyre...

Jenni says we first need to do a pillion ride.
I'm thinking out to Ben Nevis with coffee before/after in Wakefield.
Only rule is there needs to be someone on the back...
