1967 electra glide all org

1967 electra glide all org. has a hand clutch, that i think should be a shifter.u pull back then shift with foot. hard to rid and a little deadly. want to replace with regular clutch cable and bar lever. any ideas. may even reverse and install a foot clutch with hand shift,not sure how ??????
