Ever notice that anyone slower than you is an idiot, but anyone going faster is a maniac?
great ride by midge.really cool to see him out there.that was a nasty crash by craig jones apparently suffered a serious head injury.
Was a great effort by Midge.
I have seen him race here, and he is FAST!
I was following him through the timing sheets as they crossed the line.... Great TV coverage right there... Midge was obviously with some serious company.
Just goes to show how fast those Supersport boys are.
The race (a re-start after rain) was prematurly stopped by Craig Jones' crash.... VERY Horrific it was, hope he pulls through.
Sadly, it was just one of those accidents where your heart sinks and everybody realises how quick it can all go wrong. Jones was laying on the track as bikes wizzed passed at 170mph. Thankfully nobody hit him.
Good to see Midge got some exposure over there though.
The 600s might have been interesting if Midge hadn't missed the south island rounds due to injury. When he raced at Manfield and Puke he had the better of Dennis Charlet. As it turned out the battle for the Supersport and Superbike Titles both turned into one horse races.
Is he coming back for the nationals this year? wonder if he will ride honda in NZ? Do you know if he is doing any other wss rounds? ill have to keep an eye out!! Cant have been a very nice scene for midge for the second time in less then a year!
Isn't Midge origionally from the UK? Good to see him mixing it up on the world stage though.
Very sad news that Craig Jones died in hospital dusring the night after the race. A big loss to racing.
All you ever wanted to know about Midge Smart :-)

Kiwi? Nope, British ....
Good to see some one from NZ (if not born here) racing a bike in a world series other than MX, although have never heard of him until now. Hope he stays at it and not just a wildcard entry.
I had heard about him way back when i was racing mx, he cleaned up 2 nz 125 nats and he won every race he entered in this years 600 class at the nats, you guys have gotta read more magazines!
Randy Mamola raced in NZ as a nipper (15 or 16) maybe we should have cheered him on as a Kiwi?![]()
