While his occupation was normally running a hostelry, that had nothing to do with his other, more discreet calling. A calling incidentally which ran in the family.
Are youse jokers just hanging around or whut??
Another clue would be useful...
"Standing on your mother's corpse you told me that you'd wait forever." [Bryan Adams: Summer of 69]
Sigh.....there was one in my last post but no problem. This persons job may theoretically still exist in the UK and New Zealand but (to the best of my knowledge) there are no appointees. A bit of a stretch.
I'm going to have to execute a conclusion soon....
The person had a French name but was quintessentially English. He worked for a while at Nuremberg.
Witch-smeller pursuivant?

Albert Pierrepoint.

There ya go Hitcher, not so hard after all. You did note the "hanging around" clue I hope....?? I haven't seen the movie but read his biography and it was.....chilling. Felt right depressed after finishing it. A humane man who would carry out an execution within 20 seconds of entering the condemned cell.
Your turn.
One of the world's top drivers: a Buddhist ET.
"Standing on your mother's corpse you told me that you'd wait forever." [Bryan Adams: Summer of 69]
Maxwell Fraser
And this ET has a New Zealand connection.

And ET = ....? Extra Terrestrial?
More hints please.
