Tolstoy and Solzhenitsyn were fine writers but nowhere near as prolific as this guy. He was a claustrophile who nevertheless enjoyed travel and used to give lectures aboard the Queen Elizabeth II.

Afraid not. He was a close friend of Gene Roddenberry and Kurt Vonnegut, wrote over 500 books, and was once named Humanist of the Year.

This clever chap won the Andy Fellowes Memorial Prize for Aeronautical Sciences but was disqualified from flying for dangerous flying yet he invented something that would have moved him!
