1996 XV250 Virago - what engine oil does it need?

I'm assuming it will want 40/10? If so, great (I still have a small drop of that in the garage).

If it is 15/40, even better! I've got LOADS of that!

Anything else and I'll have to find a petrol station that still sells bottles of oil...

    Any advice appreciated,

    Bob

    Wow.

Thank you SO much for that. You can't get a manual in the UK (well not as far as I can see) for the XV250, so this is going to come in very handy.

Might have to wait until no-one is around at work before printing it off though...

    No problem :-)

My motorcycle has a Virago engine, so it is handy for me too.

Sadly it is a non-printable manual......there is a wee disclaimer on the front page.

    Periodic oil change:
    1.4 L (1.2Imp qt, 1.5 US qt)

    With oil filter replacement:
    1.6 L (1.4 Imp qt, 1.7 US qt)

    NOTE:
    Recommended engine oil classification;
API Service "SE". "SF" type or equivalent
    (eg. "SF-SE", "SF-SE-CC", "SF-SE-SD' etc)

    SAE 15W50
    Technosynthese
    Motul (brand)
