    if bored at work....

Honda, fukkit man, if you are bored at work find something to do!

Upon having a 12 hour sleep under my belt I see what all the commotion is all about and yes I'm sorry and it won't happen again. I natuarally thought that the older threads would have an expiry date and end up being deleted. Oh and I don't care for the post count

Ok You guys, what gives with these negataive comments about dragging up old posts. If a newbie like me raises a new thread that asks a question or makes a comment on a topic that was covered here a year ago we are told to search the old threads and stop raising new ones on old topics. Now that someone has searched the old topics and added to them you senior guys are complaining about it. WHICH WAY DO YOU WANT IT?

So come on then. Maybe you guys who have been here for years have already seen these topics and don't wish to continue with them. But please remember that there are always new people coming on this site who haven't seen them. For the sake of the newbies please show some tolerance. If its an old thread and you don't wish to comment on it again, then don't. But please allow everone here the same chance that you had when it was first posted.

All HONDA has done is gone and said "hello and welcome " in half the threads, no problem if he had of been searching on a topic he was interested in and posted a valid question, but welcoming people who have been on the site nearly a year longer than him? that just aint cricket!

oh and another point, if moderators and lots of green box people give out large amounts of good rep is it also true that they would give out big bad rep?

Valid point Jantar, but sadly doesn't cover Honda's ass enough to stop a lynching.

Fair comment sAsLEX, I wasn't on line on monday, so I didn't see what Honda actually wrote. However I have been criticised on here for dragging up old threads, and I have also been criticised for starting a new thread on a topic that had been covered a long time ago. The search fuction doesn't always give a good indication of the contents of a previous thread so new threads on old topics will come up from time to time. But old threads will also get resurrected, and my comment stands. If the more senior members don't wish to cover old ground, they don't have to.

Jantar, I've got no problem with people covering old ground, but this is either just a blatant attempt by Honda to get his post count up, or worse yet, a complete inability to understand how the forum works.

Going to the New Members section and just posting welcome to the site at the end of every thread is not contributing to the site.
And I to my motorcycle parked like the soul of the junkyard. Restored, a bicycle fleshed with power, and tore off. Up Highway 106 continually drunk on the wind in my mouth. Wringing the handlebar for speed, wild to be wreckage forever.

Nothing wrong with either starting a new thread on a topic that's already been covered, or for replying to an old thread - happens all the time on ALL forums. It's just when you get someone who NEVER does a search (presumable because they're lazy or computer-illiterate, or both) or who dredges up lots of old, dead threads just for the sake of getting their post count up (or because they're a poor, sad excuse for a human), it's bloody annoying! The dredged up out-of-date / crapulent threads or numerous meaningless postings (like 99% of mine ) usually totally submerge other more topical or up-to-date threads, and sabotage whatever might be going on in KiwiBikerWorld.

I also appreciate that if someone's on dial-up, doing a search may take a long time, and dredging through the crap that the search turns up is frustrating. Also the search engine on many forums is usually woefully inadequate.

While I like the "hand off" style of administration/moderation of Kiwi Biker, maybe instances like this might justify the moderators stepping in and going
    ... and that's what I think.

    Or summat.

    Or maybe not...

    Dunno really....

I'm fucking sick of this shit...

Is THAT why I have 9 fucking pages of new posts? Over 200 new threads??? I am TRYING to get through these in my lunch break. It is immature, inconsiderate and just plain stupid to post shit on each thread, from the stone age!

SPANKME, can you please do something about this f*ing clown! I'm sorry Honda, you seemed like a nice guy lately, but you've done this twice now, and it's gone too far.

Man, not to mention I had a FUCKING bad night last night and I'm having a bad-ish day today.

This time, I promise that I'll not be doing it again. I'm not sure what the 9 pages refer to, but it sounds like some sort of history. I think that you however have taken this too far. However as your having a badish day, I can understand. From now on I'll only be replying to threads worth doing so to. Sorry all.

there is a link in the middle of (slightly to the right) of the top of the screen called "new posts"
95% of people here use it to check up on anything that the might have missed while they were logged off.... saves going through every forum looking for new posts.. very handy for everyone, except when some dick needlessly ressurects old threads with crap...
also makes it particularly hard to keep the site free of double posts, deleted posts and other things that Mods and Admins need to do.... dont want to piss these people off.....
