The season is still months away, you trying torment me

Still waiting for that vid to load (snails pace dial-up )

Saw the video footage of the 120lb(est) King Salmon that was hooked by a shore based angler at the Kenai river, he played the fish for close to 20hrs got it the bank it bust through a landing net stayed on the line for another 10mins then broke off

it would have been the largest Salmon caught by a shore based angler ever :slap:

They're exactly the same breed as our beauties, just they stay at sea for a longer time but pound for pound ours are larger at the same age by comparison

$20 says I'll get one before you this season just because you're tormenting me

Playing Salmon from a boat is relatively boring by comparison to playing one in a river especially when using the lure, that's a real challenge and sometimes you can end up quite a few kms from where you started & can be bloody hard work

easy both the Waimak & Waitaki are late rivers, the Rakaia & Rangitata are the early ones

and the Waitaki is a shithouse to fish unless you've got a boat

Chasing Salmon on a fly is spay casting that's an art & bloody hard working swinging a 10-12wt flying rig Atlantic Salmon are a severely threatened breed these days unfortunately

Maybe we should all go out one day and put $20 in the pot. Biggest fish wins. No fish................ we just for a meal and a piss up.

Was thinking seriously about doing something like that last season, but to be honest I was absolutely fished out & needed a break from it.
And I couldn't go anywhere on the Rakaia without some bugger tailing me The damn truck is too well known :slap:

    Say to your money

I've got to disembowel the ZXR at some stage but your bike would be easy to sort out don't have to worry about it being a paid job, you've got a fair hike getting it here & then picking it up again
