Happy birthday man !! All the best on yr day !
A girlfriend once asked " Why is it you seem to prefer to race, than spend time with me ?"
The answer was simple ! "I'll prolly get bored with racing too, once i've nailed it !"

    Bowls can wait !

Didya get that new bike huh huh huh? Its all downhill from here, hair will sprout from your nostrils, you'll be making old man noises everytime you get up or move around ...

And you'll be wistfully looking at a Goldwing as a future option ...

nope... but I managed to come off an existing one...

Early hours of this morning I was heading home from some work at a client. Heading through the SE highway, and over waipuna bridge things seemed reasonably calm. On Waipuna bridge, it was suddenly pelting down, big wind gusts etc. Still not so bad, nothing I haven't been through before. Dropped off the end of the bridge, felt the rear wheel spin up, still, not so bad, often does that in the rain, its quite slippery.

Rear stepped out to the left, still wasn't scared, have handled it before. The next instant was scary... I felt from the rear that there was zero grip around the rear tyre. Managed to bring the rear back, and it went out to the right. Then it went left and right again, and I began realising I probably wasn't getting out of it as I could feel the front didn't have any grip either and controlling a bike swinging from side to side, no grip... yeh . Rear swung left big time, bike leant over, and I thought it was over. It was... except the rear must have swung right again as the next second, I was turfed off the left side of the bike.

The only positive was that because it was so slippery, both bike and I slid for ages, nothing is broken on the hornet, but clutch and mount will need replacing. Not even a broken light bulb. My gear, will replace the helmet as I think it hit the road, jacket has a small hole on one elbow, and draggin jeans are untouched, despite sliding for well over 100m I think on my back, head first. The road was so wet, I remember the sensation of waves around me, as I was sliding.

Nice start to my birthday... I currently feel like a dog sitting in the corner licking its wounds. Left hip is sore, and definitely bruised a few ribs, amazing how it restricts your movement.

edit: Thanks for the birthday wishes... the day hasn't gotten any worse, so they must be helping

    Happy Birthday!
Hope you have an awesome rest of day

Maybe it is birthday luck that stopped you (and bike) from getting seriously hurt - maybe you should go buy a lotto ticket
