Oh but please, it goes to helping the poor disabled sissy boy in bosnia
To every man upon this earth
    Death cometh sooner or late
And how can a man die better
    Than facing fearful odds
For the ashes of his fathers
And the temples of his Gods

would i run? don't know. have i run? well i aint gonna answer that. but i will say if i'm doing over 150 and the conditions are good hell yes. but thats a big if. mind you the conditions are gonna be good if i am going to go anywhere near 150 anyhow. and if i know the road. thats a big if. too many factors to take into account. road conditions weather traffic time.

Re' UK Traffic cops - they are far better trained that Kiwi cops. Only specialist pursuit units (class 1) can chase you and these guys are superb drivers. Normal cops in cars can't chase you, they can only turn their lights on, speed up a bit (class 3) and radio for backup - which can be quite fun.....especially if you have a radio scanner or even better a transmitter (ever pretend you're a cop and give wrong directions over the radio during a police pursuit? - me neither ) and a good sense of direction.

Re' buying Ride - shan't it's wank. I prefer BIKE

Anything else anybody like me to comment on? I'm feeling like a right old rant...must be because I got the pegs down on a VFR800 over the weekend in the Buller pass - woooohoooo. That testosterone, it's a funny thing.

thats exactly my point (I don't envy him in that situation)! a lot of cagers seem to freak when they hear sirens/lights (course, just as many of them just keep on goin till they're really holding things up!) and I for one would rather use something like black 250cc sports bike than a big bright, siren and light flashing St1300 if I had to get through traffic in a huge hurry.

I apologise to those who will read these comments and be offended - nothing personal guys/girls. And I do accept that some of you will be the people to mop up the mess after people with my attitudes get it wrong.

Fact is, from my experience, I can say that if the odds are in favour of the house then I should start gambling with money - I'd be retired by xmas. Is that because I was careful in evaluating the conditions before deciding to place my bet, or was that because I was just lucky? Who knows - I'd like to say I was smart, but I know it was a bit of both. I'm sure you will each have differing views on that.

Why debate a car vs bike in traffic? From an objective point of view I can't see how, all things being equal, the car would have a hope in hell. The subjective factors, like the rider and driver (not just the cop) will decide the outcome.

Them that run have to be lucky ALL the time, the cop that chases only has to be lucky ONCE

the point I was trying to make was that in traffic, a radio is gunna be quicker than any bike... especially on the roads that we have around here. rail crossings, skinny roads and silly fukkas in cages that do 70 in 100 zones will slow down any bike and car but not the radio or the cop 5ks up the road

i've had about a dozen decent pursuits chasing bikes. the only one that got away was a duke, which i kept up - and alongside a couple of times - with for 80 kilometres (it was night time on country roads) got away when we got into a rural waikato town, and he started blowing through stop signs at 160km/h. i had guys waiting at his house for him, but he didn't come home for a month - we thought (hoped) he had fallen off and killed himself somewhere, but he eventually turned up, claiming he had no knowledge, and that the bike had probably been taken from his house by an 'associate' and that he had no idea who that 'associate' would be. usually wouldn't be enough of an excuse, but considering the pedigree of some of his 'associates', it would have been an impossible task (they all rode non japanese bikes if you know what i mean). still, if you want to waste a month........

ALL the other pursuits have ended in running out of gas, road spikes, mr motorola, a door knock or a crash.

just hope that your pursuer isn't a biker, and recognises your machine......

I never run, but have no qualms with outsmarting, out thinking cops. Now thats fun when you are face to face, they suspect it was you but not able to be proven. Who me Orificer?

Otherwise I accept that I speed, I make donation to Govt Consolidated fund. Wouldnt mind if they used the money from fines for road upgrades, driver ed or something....Another story!

Goes both ways pal, after seeing some act of idiocy or crime happen right on front of you there is nothing better than let some bozo tell you a whole Baron von Munchousen bullshit story and saying 'is that right?' a half dozen times and he assuring you it is - then saying 'well while I was WATCHING you it didn't seem that way to me' , the look on their face when they realise you knew all along what happened is PRICELESS.

No wonder they think we're arseholes.

You're just a wee tad short of the truth there biff baff.

There is a policy being implimented that will prevent some police drivers from engaging in pursuits. It hasn't yet taken effect and quite frankly if a person can't make the grade for pursuits they should reconsider their career options.

I beg to differ, what I've just stated is absolute fact. I am talking about UK traffic cops here, not Kiwi H.P.

I love being right :spudbooge :spudbooge :spudbooge
