2008 EX Kawasaki Ninja 250 needs help !

My son owns a new 2008 model 250 Ninja with 2000 km on the clock. When returning to Auckland from Hamilton 2 nights ago it ran beautifully at 100 - 120 kmh all the way to Manukau City when he had to stop at the lights. After setting off again the bike would not rev above 5000 rpm being about 60 kmh.

The gears are fine and the throttle can twist all the way. The bike still has the same symptoms last night.

Can anyone please shed any light on what the probable cause is ? I'm miffed.

    cheers
    Dave

    What he said.
What I would do to help the bike shop though is see if the bike wont rev past 5k period or if its restricted to just top gear.

    Thanks for that.

The bike won't run past 5000 in any gear.
And there was plenty of fuel left. I'm starting to think the vacuum in the carburetor but I'm only guessing. I've just sent my son a text. Told him to get Red Baron to collect it and fix it.

unless you've got a US model I think it will be fuel injection.

It's better to not pass and know that you could have than to pass and find out that you can't. Wait for the straight.
