It's a mean piece of country through there at the best of times and with what was forecast would spell complete trouble for even the best of mountaineers. Not a pleasant experience for anyone to go through

    RIP to the poor guy.

Sounds like he had a heart attack which he could have had if he'd just got out of the pool at Key's Parnell mansion so the location and circumstances have f'all to do with this I would say.
    Cheers

    You're hard to please.

This thread http://www.kiwibiker.co.nz/forums/sh...ad.php?t=71293 shows that all KB'ers should be pleased because however the country has been run motorcycle sales have increased and isn't that what you'd all want?

Ah who remembers the Ruth Richardson years and can tell me how National really improved this country?
    Cheers

I think it's a metaphor from God. It seems that Winston's not the only one we can't get rid of.

Is that distant humming the sound of the Liarbour spin-machine warming up?

This is Gottlieb's brief CV - i don't think he was one of the staffers:

    Gottlieb Braun-Elwert

A former nuclear physicist, Gottlieb is a UIAGM qualified mountain and ski guide, with 46 years of mountaineering and 36 years of professional guiding experience. He is a member of the German and the New Zealand Mountain Guides Associations. His most notable climbing achievements include: First ascent of entire Peuterey Ridge of Mont Blanc (1973), all New Zealand 3000m peaks during a single winter (1989), winter ascent of Cerro Fitz Roy (Supercanaleta 1993), three winter crossings of the Patagonian Ice Cap (1994, 1995, 1996), Cerro Aconcagua (2001), 26 ascents of Aoraki Mount Cook and 8 ascents of Mount Tasman. In May 2002 he traversed Denali (Mount McKinley). Gottlieb pioneered many ski touring routes in Europe and in New Zealand. He continues to guide and climb at the forefront of the sport. Gottlieb is a member of the Canterbury - Aoraki Conservation Board.

    RIP dude.

I am impressed with the PM in this as she is getting out there and enjoying this great country, 3 hours working on keeping the guy alive, then night ride on ski-doo then 4WD just to be with the family!!

    That deserves a beer!

Would this be the same PM that publicly criticised John Key and Bill English for taking time off during the school holidays to be with their families?

    Hypocritical cow.

I've known a few serious trampers in my time and the fact is that they are not much different from us. They have a 'passion' for what they love, as we do. For those that made disparaging comments on Clark just remember she tried to help a fellow tramper/climber when he was in trouble, just as you would expect help from us/biker if you were on the road and in trouble.

Yeah, we all hate successful business people. I'd rather see someone who has never had a proper job in their life, running the country...
