Hey, quick tip if you've got excess oil:

Anybody who's ever tried to drain excess oil out of the sump knows it's a prick of a job. Pull out the sump bolt, drain until you think `oh that looks about right', then try and jam the bolt back in, spraying oil everywhere all over your hands and making a huge mess on the driveway.

What works better is to get an old spray-head pump out of a soap dispenser or glass cleaner or Spray'N'Wipe etc. (might be too fine for thick oil, though) with the long tube sticking out the bottom. Stick the tube down the oil filler and spray the oil out until you get to the level you want. Much less mess.

I think I'll do what Conquiztador suggests and replace the oil and filter. Looking at the filter I wouldn't be surprised if it the original one since it looks pretty tacky, and at least this way I will know what oil is going engine. Will check the air filter to ensure no oil too.

Next question is what brand of oil and where to get the filter? I'm thinking just getting oil from supercheap and the filter from the local motorcycle shop but if anyone else has suggestions I will listen.

    Cheers
Oil filter in Hi Flo is an HF303 , I have one on the shelf for $15 . Get your oil from Supercheap it's cheaper , go for Castrol Active 4t , don't use car oils in bikes cos bikes have wet clutches and cars don,t .

I have found that local bike shops have same or better price oil. And more selection. But might depend on areas. Also worth considering, that there is a difference in oils and what is recommended for different bikes. Not much but...

May the bridges I burn light the way.

Hi all, my apologies if I'm supposed to start a new discussion or something.

I'm after a bit of help. I have a 1992 Suzuki GSX600FN. Its engine seems to die on me occasionally when its slowing down (ie at lower revs). It starts again though. Anyone got any ideas?

I had the same problem with mine and I found out that it was running too rich so kept stalling at low revs.
