it means its probably sucking gearbox oil into the combustion chamber and burning it.stripdown time....

the piston is scored to shit, but the barrel is ok, and the rings are mint.

Its a two stroke . ANY oil in the crankcase will be transferred to the combustion area. If the smoke is real bad (and worse when first started up after sitting) then as Mr GG said, your cranskshaft seals are shot. High idle speed is often (not always) another pointer to this. Stripdown time. Two smokers. It's what they , is why we luvs them so

The TF will have the primary side main bearing fed from the gearbox oil.Change the oil and fill with EP90....or Castrol R - if it's burning trans oil you'll smell it soon enough.New rings give more compression - and on a 2 stroke more vacuum in the crankcase....it'll suck all sorts of shit in it never did before.

Aside from the main bearing seals it is also probable that the exhaust needs a thorough decoke. When the bike is used for an extended period the exhaust gets really hot and starts to decoke itself.
The only way to thoroughly decoke it is with an lpg flame and careful use of compressed air. If really coked up this can take 20 minutes or more to do the job.
If your gearbox oil level drops and the spark plug is abnormally oily it proves that there is an oil seal problem.
