Great to see folk helping each other out.

On a slight tangent, next time you have trouble with an electronic gadget that's not long out of warranty, try the Consumer Guarantee Act, which states something along the lines of "an item must be fit for the purpose for which it's sold."

That's not a direct quote. Please don't hurt me.

I had a Sony digital camera which one day ( 1 month out of warranty) decided to stop reading the Memory Stick. Sony fixed it and wanted $175 for the repair. I told them that I didn't think I should have to pay because of the CGA.

After a 5 second silence the guy said, "We have adjusted your invoice. There is no charge." No contesting the fact either.

This isn't a dig at Sony, as they were willing to play ball.

And I still think Jorja is ace for helpin' out.

From memory if you fight it you can get sony to pay for the parts but not the labor

i got some tech guy at sony to send me parts in the mail for free once - outside of warranty!!!
Awesome guy - was flooded for work so when i told him i could fix it at home if i had the parts he just sent the out.
he also mentioned that sony had a restructure in 2000 and that all the good stuff was being taken over by shiny bad stuff.
    ironically he was right
