I am considering going - but I will decide last minute and pay the extra cost for the gate sale rather than book early. I will base my decision on the long range weather forecast probably on the Monday or Tuesday before the weekend in question. For me it would be a VERY long ride there & back as well as 2 ferry crossings, so for the time & money costs it is a bit much if I have to put up with crappy weather. Are any other bikers from the north heading down?

What time does everything kick off on the Friday? I couldn't see any mention of times on the website or entry form.

Also, what time does it finish on Sunday? Or do we all just crash out in our tents late Saturday (wee hours of Sunday morning) and just pack up and head out whenever we wake up on Sunday?

Friday afternoon you will be able to ride in and set your tent up,sunday is as you say whenever you wake up pretty much.Saturday afternoon is bike show/tatt show etc followed by tit show, bands and plenty of bourbon and bullshit.Oh and if needed theres a bit of a breakfast that can be purchased on site Sunday morning, bacon eggs etc, coffee free, remember to bring a mug.

    OK, Thanks for the info.

I might head down to Wellington on Thursday and take the 6:15pm ferry across to Picton. I can camp somewhere that night and head into the Magpie Friday afternoon. Sunday I can probably be at Picton in time for the 6:05pm ferry. So I guess I just need to take Thursday, Friday & Monday off work.

I suppose I could head down to Christchurch on Thursday night and crash on a KiwiBiker's couch? Though It would be pretty late by the time I got there. Or maybe find a KiwiBiker between Picton & Christchurch with an available couch.

Mate i am sure you will find someone with a couch,if me i would start a seperate thread asking that very thing, the Ch-CH mob are a good bunch and am sure they will get you sorted, would say stay here but i am 100 odd kms further south than the Magpie.Sing out if you end up coming down to the rally on your own and we will give you directions to the KB spot to set up tent at the rally.
