I can't believe you find it that hard. I use Ace Payroll and it is a breeze (I do agree though that due to new rules regulations etc etc you may be forced into buying a Payroll package so you can get all the paper work done)
IRD:
We owe you $72 for PAYE, you owe us $68 for student loan.
Ok, I ignore it and figure it'll all come out in the wash.
Nope. I get a late payment penalty for the student loan, and they still owe me $72 for PAYE- no bonus or interest of course.
Fuckers.
I make motorbike noises when I ride my motorbike.
Yep, there you have it.
I'm going to try and sort this stuff out in my own time this weekend. Using the IRD online calculators (which I use anyway) I'll recalculate everything from 1 April, print it out, and send it all in.
I too made the mistake of thinking it would all come out in the wash. Got penalties so wrote in asking for remission - which they granted.
I also paid amounts to keep up, thinking IRD'd recalculate and credit what I felt were overpayments. DUH.It just confirmed to them they were right.

Just out of interest, does the schoolgirl wear her uniform while she is working?
All this reminds me. I have to pay myself.
Oh, and MYOB is shit. Not the shit. Just shit.
I'll keep my eyes peeled for the "IRD kicks my butt" thread!
I think I’ve forgotten what a good employer is?????
My employer’s response to Kiwisaver was that it would come out of the end of year bonus. It’s the young guys with families that I feel for when they’re trying to make ends meet. Threatened with less money at Xmas time and you can imagine the attitude toward Kiwisaver. They truly believe it’s a nasty thing!
This however, is an issue someone else can fight as I’ve grown tired of standing alone on work related issues. At the moment I’d be quite content with a first aid kit that contained a plaster and panadol tablet. Here’s to hope!![]()
I'd kill for an end of year bonus.
Literally.
Show me who needs killing, Get my cheque ready.
Im not an employer but on the big picture I can see prices going up more as companies have to pay more to pay for the KS scheme. I can also see that emloyers will take on short term employees so they only have to pay minimal amounts instead of the increase every year. There are no garuantees that the already falling over investment companies or the government(whichever demon is in at the time) will have the money when it's due to be paid anyway!
