How about aiming to make the best music they can?

Fact is all bands peak, all bands go into decline, I have no doubt plenty of once great bands that produce crap music are doing the best they can....the rest are just desperate for the glory days.

I'd guess you would know that if you knew the band.......

anyway, a bit of reading for you

The discussion on tuned vocals starts on the prior page I believe.

    Even legends get old.
Thanks for the link to the thread, just another thread bashing MetallicA, so nothing new there, you're a part of it right? If there ever has been auto tuning on any Metallica albums it certainly isn't evident when you listen to it, or at least if you listen to it and not try and look for things like that, you know, just appreciating the music? And not trying to disect it and rip it apart? Try it out, you might just enjoy the music......

The thread has bashing, celebration, and disection of the music, Its called a discussion. The point of linking it was to merely show you people are discussing the manipulated vocals.

Yep, I rubished the song on that forum, I'm afraid I can't get over the vocal manipulation. However I'm not saying you can't or shouldn't celebrate it as the second coming of christ. No one is trying to change your opinion of the song. Thoiugh its funny you want to take an observation personally.

As for the auto-tuning, Perhaps it is undetactable to some people ears, I find once you hear it then it impossible to ignore, Though it has to be said it was done better/ far less obvious on their earlier albums.

As for enjoyment, I was pretty disapointed with the direction they took with the Black album,Haven't really been able to enjoy their output since then, Thgough the odd song isn't to bad. Crazy to think that was 17 years ago,

Sorry dude, I took the whole thing to heart, kinda struck a nerve for me. MetallicA for me have the band to pull me through heaps of shit in my life and I always take things too literally. No offense intended in any way shape or form.

Music works best when we get passonite about it, To me music is far more then entertainment, Its power and emotion, strength, depth, hellfire ,life and death. All the trials of life can be soothed by a killer riff and screaming solo. As much as I don't like some music if it moves someone else to the core then its as quality as anything else ever made.

Took me years to come to grips with that fact, Though I was always aware that many people if not most people around me couldn't idenify with the music I souround myself with, My opinon has always been if it doesn't speak to you, Then its not for you, so fuck off and ruin some one elses day.

Lmao, Think I'll take my own advice,,,,,,,

It's certainly getting a lot of air-time on the radio these days.

It's good, it's not fantastic. Good on them for keeping on rocking is all I can say, they're in their late 40s I believe and they've had quite a few wild years too

I was at the Reading Festval on the weekend which Metallica headlined.
They played both the new songs which was the first time i had heard either, but was quite impressed.
Hope to hear to new album soon.

so I've heard the entire album now ... way better than st. anger whew !!!

I'll definitely be buying it next Friday (12th).

I was a bit worried that unforgiven III would be another rehash, but it is a completely different song .. still soft and ballady ( a touch of S&M )

This was just your life is pretty fast .. very ride the lightening .. quite cool.

The double kicker in Broken, beat and scared will be hard as in Guitar Hero World tour as will the triplet muffled chords .. go kirk !!!!

The Judas Kiss has some wicked guitar work in it, and some excellent lyrics ( Bow down to me ... cannot resist the judas kiss )

The chorus of Cyanide still sounds "St. anger" ish .. but nothing else does I think.

Suicide & Redemption (The instrumental) has some droney bits, but is overall ok

    My Apocalypse is EPIC !!!!!!!

I'm swinging between Judas kiss and My Apocalypse as a favourite so far

It will reside on my iPhone for a week or 6 me thinks
